This really is going to set precedent for the future, imagine what buildings heights will be in 30 years! 3km?

Actually they are technological and functional limits, especially with safety, elevators, living spaces, logistics for the function of the building and many more. My guess for sure is that supertalls above 300m will be growing like mushrooms in building block configurations and other crazy stuff, and a few 1-2km hypertalls will take the use of the "skyscraper" term. Of course we could have a ww3 or an Arab- Israel ultimate showdown in the midtime, and a "stray" cruise missile might pay a formal visit to Burj

I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that nothing taller (an occupied building, that is) will surpass this in the next 30 years. A special set of circumstances resulted in this building, and with the world economy such as it is, no one is going to have the wherewithall to build something taller for a long-long time. It took over 30 years for the Empire State to be surpassed..I'm guessing it will be at least as long for this one.

Thanks for the update OTR.

Good to see the spire jacked again. After attaching the last three wings for tier 23 the final jacking will take place, bringing the spire up to 818 meters! After that there are two things they need to do:
1. Connect and finish everything at tier 23
2. Construct, connect and finish everything at tier 22 (half of the wings of 22a & 22b still need to be constructed)

I'm curious what they'll do first, or maybe everything will happen in the same time. However, it will be the evidence that this tower is topped out at 818 meters because the spire will be fixed to the structure so we don't have to argue about that anymore..

We will see it in the next few days!

which limb exactly are you talking about? couse nakheel harbour tower is already under construction. and there are couple of highly advanced projects including the "oil south" and russia. so the countries, that may not really have a problem with spending cash on glamour =]
