I think the opening in the facade is just temporary for the workers to get into the spire if nessecery it think. Time will tell....

I don't think it's topped out yet, I think they moved it up about 2 floors height, but we need pics today from the same angle as above, then we will know for sure.

To all you guys thinking they can raise it higher than 818 - it's not possible, once that first bit of cladding went on the spire, that was it - height decided, unless they want to screw up the look of the building

If EMAAR don't announce any top out, or even the final height, we will speculate for days without anything for sure...

Knowing Emaar they could say the Burj is now at 800m. So don't expect "real" official news from them for some time.
But as Fury pointed out a few pages back, and comparing that with what we see today, Top Out is a fact, and the Burj Dubai should be standing at 818m

I think, the last hight increase wasn't that big, because it was higher than 808m before, perhaps 810m. So they had to rise the spire not so much, but only 8 meters. But I'm sure that the open door now fits to the rest and this level is at the same hight than the highest steel beam.

Where exactly do you guys see cladding within the building? Do you mean it could raise even higher than 818m? perhaps 824m oder 830m?

If they are sticking to "the plans", this thing should be topped out now. Well, nice knowing you folks. I'll be back when the next challenger building goes U/C.

818m is pretty good....remember when we were worried it would be only 705m or less?

It looks like you're right (if they stick to the plans), but I wouldn't know why they should put a door in the cladding if it isn't connected to a tier.

I think in mean time of the construction , they have started to rest of the work, like electrification, sanitation ,furniture ,Liftsand lots.....so if the tower is get full height they can open the tower for commercial use......can we have pics of the inside of the BD.

Whether they have put the DAMPER or not as it has mention in the culwulla diagram.I recently shown that spire is vibrating due to Lightning.....so It can be reduce if they have put DAMPER.....like in Taipe 101

Topped Out?

As someone who's been lurking here for 18 months but finally signed up - I took this photo about an hour ago, I'm sure the experts here will know if it means we're topped out for sure....

...if so then I guess it's tonight!!

You can post the whole picture (not just thumbnail without the link):

EDIT: it seems you fixed it already.

It looks indeed a hatch to the upper tier.
