Thanks Dequal, I managed to work it out eventually! I know it's not quite up to Imre and OTR's standards but I only had the compact digicam with me today! I might post a few more later...

is impossible the fact that they hadn't thought about this before, i work in a pool-spa-fountain company and everybody knows the anemometers (wind sensor) is a must-have in outdoor fountains. in fountains like bellagio's the water show is stopped if moderate winds begins.

Looks T/O to me.

Does anyone know, or want to guess, how fast the spire would rise during jackings? Was it extremely slow, like 1cm per minute, or relatively fast, say 1m per minute, or something in between?

I don't think we've seen any video of it rising, which I find strange. Guess the stages could have happened fast when no one was looking, or so slowly that it wouldn't be noticeable without time-lapse photography. ...Or in short, but quick bursts -- go up a few cm, wait several minutes, then a few more cm, etc.

Awesome, but seems like they can jack it up a bit more, one or two windows!

I don't know, but I hope that we'll see that in some documentary about Burj Dubai...

Don't forget the "half-wings" that were installed. They won't rise above the steel structure.

It looks definitely topped out now, especially because of the access door, but i am wondering why they did not attach the last three wing/transition parts of tier 23?

I wasn't too sure earlier, but on closer look I think the position of the door

gives it away - this tier will not go any higher, therefore we must be topped out

next things to do (to close the "gap"):
-add the 2 levels of the missing steel wing of tier 22
-add the lower part of the small wing of tier 23
-some connections between spire and the steel structure
==>dismantle the crane

btw, someone should rename this thread U/C-->T/O ;-)

Using the spire door as a reference from the position it was in this morning, I would say the height increase was in the region of 4 to 5m

Pic as it is now.

It should be around 813 m then. No need for title change until it's 100%.
