Thoroughly enjoyed watching this grow over the years - Congratulations to everyone who played their part in making this happen.

What tower will beat this next and where/when will it happen I wonder?

Maybe the Nakheel Harbour Tower in Dubai? But construction will take over 10 years, so that is still a long time to go.

Just as i thought yesterday, i't already was topped out, great work!

The greatest work of our time!
We'll probably have to wait a decade for something to surpass the Burj Dubai, but i don't mind..not a single bit!

After being watching this thread for about 3,5 years now...i'm so happy it's done!

It will be sometime before we get any official news. The info on the BurjDubai.com still says current height 688m Emaar.com says 707m and SOM.com says 700m. I am curious whether Emaar still believes that nobody knows the "actual" "current height"

Ofcourse they know that somebody knows it but because it's not official, 99,999% of the world won't know it until Emaar tells them it is.

I'm sure the 'mainstream' press will pick up on it sooner or later - word will spread quickly I'm sure - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burj_dubai is already up to date with the topping out and the 'correct' height...

There have been so many of us watching this for years who have come out into the open in the past few days as this tremendous adventure neared its climax, but the big thanks must go to those who have been most involved in this massive thread - to Fury and Culwulla for analysis and diagrams, and of course to Imre, OTR, 234Sale, AltinD and the numerous others that contributed thousands of pictures. This thread would not have been anything without you!
