Hi everyone -
I've been following your conversations for years, just started posting myself. I am an Executive MBA student at Georgetown University, going to Dubai during the first week of March with my class for our final residency (graduating in April). Previous one took place in HK and Shanghai, where I visited ICC, Jin Mao and tried to get into SWFC but it was not open to the public yet. A few of us would love to get into the Burj, can anyone help me with that? I suppose I could just contact EMAAR but I was wondering if someone here has a good contact, or knows if it's even possible at all for a small group to go up for an escorted visit. Thanks!

It doesn't work that way.

Dream Vs reality..

Imre, what is your opinion on this:

I look at the photos of models of Burj dubai down town development.
These models represent the original dream.
Then I look at the aerial map of the development.
I see substantial difference between dream and reality.
The dream had many more mini skyscrapers around BD than the reality.
what happened? Did Emaar run out of cash or is there some other reasons for their change of plans?

They claim to have now implemented all features they were aiming for over the last few years, so now they officially consider it not being a Beta version anymore.

Inspired by the animated GIF which was posted yesterday (thanks alot anyways!) here is my version of Downtown development (not speeding like crazy like yesterdays GIF...)

as it is well known, there is more money in finishing a building rather than leaving it unfinished. oh so true, but it cant be finished without the workers. had a thing on the news on SBS the other day saying it has been halted temporarily cause of unhappy workers, some guy was filmed saying "how can i pay for my family? im not working anymore!" i dont think they would be still doing interior and just the exterior guys have gone on strike.....

Yes Emaar have no money.
They have a few new towers which are very nice and are in the 50 to 80 floor range. They launched then at insane prices, then they crashed, people who bought them can't afford the payments since they bought in the hope of reselling them quickly at a higher price...

It's a shame the roof of the Dubai Mall is not patterned and decorated like the roof of the mall at the Petronas Towers, KLCC. It gives the people in the Burj a pretty boring outlook, a shame really considering the high cost of living there.
