Hey guys i do not think the lake is fuly finished by now. The filling could be just a test. I saw on renders and models that the lake has a totaly other shape as it has now. I tried to illustrate it on the picture i postet a few days ago, here it is.

blue line= outlines of the lakes shape
green arrow= possible temporary outlines

Compare it with a picture of the model here. Actually it end there were i have drawn the black line.

So if works goes on on the lake, they could also decide to put a layer of stones on the ground of the lake or even to make it deeper to achhive a more natural look......i would prefer a lake like they are building at the JLT's.

the rest like in the renders will be filled too, but that part of the lake isn't ready to fill. Like you see on the pictures, there's still a lot of work to do and a lot of construction going on. Give it time and you will see that part filling with water too.

If you have followed the progression of the lake, you can see that it is being built in stages. When the Old Town part of the lake was finished they filled it, now the fountain part of the lake has been finished. Once the last (north??) part of the lake is finished, they'll probably drain it and refill it again.

It's good to know that the lake isn't finished yet. It still looks pretty bad but much better than that first light blue lining they had when they first filled it.....whew..

Emaar has finally paid to Arabian Aluminium, the cladding work continues on Burj Dubai, 2700 panels left to be placed.

The Dubai Fountain was supposed to go operational on March 4th, however the filling of the lake has stopped due to some cables that got flooded.

The CTUBH (Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat) suggests that the Burj Dubai will remain the world's tallest building until 2020, because of the uncertain future of many proposed projects. Heights are expected to drop until 2017.
Work at several Emaar Properties projects in Dubai is expected to come to a halt in the coming weeks, however Burj Dubai is not one of them.

I love how they have boats where the fountain is, haha. That would be a fun ride.

you know, I was wondering if the boats might use the color differences in the lake to discern where the 'safe zone' is. dark blue: not safe, light blue: safe.

There are docks being built as we speak.
