Nice to see construction of the missing wings around the spire still goes on (on the ground). And nice to see the cladding at the spires is aluminum without glass.

Ro.Bi. Thanks for sharing this awesome pics!

yes amazing pics, looking down from the 153 level is nerve racking enough , but to look up and not able to see the top is crazy .cant wait for the pics from near the spire to get a true gauge of the height.

Ro.Bi. are you involved in the construction? in your pics i see that you went up two times (first pic: lake is filled/7th pic lake is empty and uncolored).

Can you still make pics from the top?

hotel in BD

I am in the movie making business. Currently working on a documentary about life in the best cities of the world. We would like to rent a room in Armani hotel in BD. Do anyone know when the hotel in BD will be open?

thanks for the pics, they look awesome
about the lake, i do agree that it looks like a cheap swimming pool, but it might not stay that way.
you can see dirt forming around the edges of the lake, what if that persists?
maybe they will intentionally not clean it too thoroughly to make it look more natural?
thats just my guess though

Do the fountains perform like the ones in the Fountains of Bellagio in Las Vegas?

i think that we should wait until the whole lake is finished.
but on a side note: if they wanted a more natural looking lake then they would have made more natural such as following the natural landscape. or adding wildlife, putting gravel on the bottom to cover the bottom, and putting dirty water to make it look deeper, but we have to remember its a fountain, its meant to be clean and fancy, and if that means it looks like a cheap swimming pool, then so be it.

Completely agree about it looking awful.
I can't understand the 2 colours for the bottom either ... and it looks worse the higher you are viewing it from (at a low angle the reflection might make it less obvious). The Emaar execs on the 150+ floors are going to be looking down at a multi-coloured swimming pool!!!
It's supposed to look like a lake - didnt it have boats on it in one of the original schemes too - not that they'd survive 200+ 100ft fountain jets!

yeah, i thought it was gonna be a bad idea when they first started painting them two different colors,
but i thought that the water just might be able to cover up the obvious difference,
making the middle look a little deeper. but that didnt happen.
monkey9000 was right, they should have at least made it gradient from dark to light (but not turquoise)

True story Ive seen and experienced at the time I WAS WORKING in BD. When the swiss company (who originally won the contract for BD cladding works) went bankrupt, they just left their cars all around dbx when they flee.... now this is happening in large scale.
large scale? you mean a lot of cars are just left everywhere or airport of those fleeing expatriates? I guess they are fleeing away from their debts/loans in Dubai

That is a mockup from 5 years ago that was housed in Emaar's presentation center (not sure if the presentation center is still around). It was part of the hype when construction was starting. Nonsense.

Ro bi. Fantastic shots man. The 2 shots of the small wings being built are interesting. By the plans those were to be perforated SS over single laminated glass. As was mentioned by Axel there doesn't appear to be any glass. Perhaps we just can't see the glass or the cladding panels aren't glazed yet ? Or they revised yet again and there is to be no glass.

I wonder if the louvered area goes on the bottom half of tier 23 or if it goes on tier 22 ?

Shouldn't be long we will see these wings added up top.
