Most of the skyscrapers in this area are commercial. This is the business hub of Dubai and it's financial center.

It says "A few of the projects" they tested. Perhaps they didn't do testing on WTC1.

The bold guy standing on the SOM stand (post 129) is the Project manager of SOM for the Burj Dubai. I forgot but he has a Greek name and I think he's a partner on the Chicago firm.

is the rumour that the tower will have a shorter spire new or has it been disspelled already...my mom (who works with NORR, the company overseeing the project) made a remark about the possibility of this yesterday.

Has anyone else (besides bikes) noticed that burjdubaiskyscraper is down? I checked yesterday and it was down, and it's still down today.

I would prefer a shorter spire. The extented spire makes the building look disproportionate and fragile. Frankly, I'd rather see a roof. The building may not be as tall, but at least it would look more solid and you would know it was occupied all the way to the top.

In my opinion, a decent looking spire has not been built since the art-deco spires of the Chysler Building and the Empire State Building. You know, back when people built "buildings." Now everything has be a freakin' "tower."

It is down since more than 2 days, our webhost changed servers without letting us know it, and now it is on a temporary server. Will be back fully working very soon. Shame that this can happen

At least Imre is back with his amazing photo updates!
