Great Updates Imre and fellow photographers
I can't help but admire the cladding alone - Its Beautiful
and its very similar to the cladding used here in melbourne for the new ANZ Bank Headquarters, Docklands.
Stunning!

'If this tower were built at sea level in Cardiff the top would be higher than any of the Brecon Beacons or Black Mountains.'

Near but not quite Pen y Fan (886 m) Corn Du (873 m).

The sky colours in this pic isn't true colour is it? the lighter colour in the bottom becomes very dark toward the top.

Burj Dubai

I love this picture with the Emirates 777-200 (looks like the -LR) flying over.

I highly doubt there's any image manipulation on that photo at all.

Firstly, because I don't believe for one moment that given the number of photos he takes every day (not just of the Burj Dubai), Imre has the time to mess around with them in Photoshop, and secondly, because I've taken loads myself and this is exactly how they come out without any manipulation whatsoever.

Quite simply, when it's a clear day, this is what the sky looks like here

right, those pics real, I am not an expert but maybe 3 things why is the top section is dark:
1. I always using UV or other filter to protect the original lens
2. reflection of the sun
3. when I put the watermark on the pic , I reduce the quality and resize it

I think it's simply down to how the sky looks.

I've gone back and looked at a lot of the photos I've taken (I do use a polarising filter on my 10-22mm lens which does admittedly enable me to accentuate the blue in the sky), and the sky in pretty much all of them is significantly darker higher up.

However, much of the shorter wavelength light is absorbed by the gas molecules. The absorbed blue light is then radiated in different directions. It gets scattered all around the sky. Whichever direction you look, some of this scattered blue light reaches you. Since you see the blue light from everywhere overhead, the sky looks blue.

As you look closer to the horizon, the sky appears much paler in color. To reach you, the scattered blue light must pass through more air. Some of it gets scattered away again in other directions. Less blue light reaches your eyes. The color of the sky near the horizon appears paler or white.

I hope to find a deal to complete the rest cladding in Burj Dubai.

Imre about inside, works continue without any problem i guess...
Do you know if some floors are complete or almost complete inside Burj Dubai?

Less pollution visible at zenith, quite simple: atmosphere is deeper when you shot towards the horizon.

I dont know what happening inside but I saw lot of workers there today (usually Friday off).

I think the cladding is not really big problem , they can finish it within a month or two, biggest problem is the infrastructure (roads, landscaping , etc..) around the Burj, it takes more time.

These projects already ON HOLD in the Burj area:

M Towers
Burj Park III
Burj Park V
18 Burj Dubai Boulevard
Burj Place
The Grand Boulevard

We dont know the future , more fountain ,bigger lake or just keep the holes ?

Emaar has to decide soon what they want with those projects.

I don't know (or remember) if the link to this page by Samsung has been posted before: http://www.burjdubaisamsung.com/experience/photo.html

Their latest picture update is from 31/12/2008 and quotes a height of 799 meters, which is also what we were saying. Beats big time Emaar's site for the tower and their "frequent" updates.
