Yes there were supposed to be more towers. In fact a good few pretty tall ones (around 250m tall) were launched around this time last year but whoops, Emaar have no money now

this may be a stupid question but is the lake just for scenery or will people be able to swim in the lake? Looks like a big pool to me

Been idle in visiting this thread for a few weeks while I've been fixing drives to handle new video capabilities... Anyway, thanks to everyone for posting such great shots from lego BDs to the upper levels' cladding and HVAC meshes.

Gerald or Desert Diver - you guys are able to use 10mm lenses as your widest angles, right? I'm tempted to see how far I'd have to stand back to get this tower in one frame lol... I have a 24-105mm lens at the moment so it's not a super-wide angle. Gerald, that shot with the water at almost ground level (bottom of the frame) and the BD piercing the clouds on top is astounding Imre, likewise, thanks for providing us with continuous updates.

AltinD - Thanks for cleaning up this thread. Lots of crap in here for sure. Comment posted on the opinions of others being that is welcomed, thanks.

I'm not saying that architecture doesn't always hit it's target but really, these guys are spending enough cash to make sure things are done in a unique way - on purpose. I'm sure the fountain will be great once it has been finished and is flowing. Trying to mask a ground level view and a 155F view are two completely different things, though I'm sure they thought of that.

Still getting things in order to visit Dubai by the end of this year and at least now have a new camera and lens to work with for the time being.

Great to see that even if the tower's topped out that this thread is still going strong.

Dubai's skyline looks horribly ugly, dark an grim. A total waste of money in my opinion; I don't see what the big fuss over this desert bound strip of hotel, and shopping mall overload is all about. I personally haven't the slightest interest in ever going there to visit.
