Really fantastic, those updates! Although I'm studying Construction Technology I still learn more and more by reading and watching this building grow!

I have a question for Imre. Is it (part of) your job to make all those pics and how do you manage to get access to building sites like this one?? 1.5 years ago I've been on the site and on the 14th floor with a group of students of my university, but it's sooo difficult to manage to get a visit!

Watching this little concrete 'top' of the building, I cant wait to see a steel structure of perhaps 200 meters rise on it

Old town would be beautiful if it wasn't for the gigantic swimming pool-type lake. It's horrible....looks so fake...

They should call its world largest pool and everybody would be staggered

But maybe it will be filled up with oceansand.. and some plants. Most small lakes are artificial... at least here in germany.

I can't believe they've already almost finished a model apartment, looks beautiful. One day I'm buying a unit.
That's a good point. One of the impressive parts of having the public observation deck in the middle of the building was that you can look up and see another 400m. That is simply not going to be the case!

Imre - awesome pictures. I too am wondering if this is actually your job. Paid to excite the world about BD - imagine getting paid for that!

On a german construction forum (Bauforum24) there's a post about the record concrete pumping height made by the Putzmeister's pumps on Burj Dubai.
Here's the link (in german) if someone is interested.

Perhaps from a certain angle near the core of the tower you'd be able to see the top...I'm not sure though. Guess I'll just have to go find out for myself.

the facade looks cheap, right?
it's very hot there, they should use darker glass instead of clear glass.

UMMM.... darker glass would ABSORB heat, which is not exactly what you do NOT wanna do at 50 degrees C.... lighter equals less a/c bills

At least they should have painted the lake floor with a darker blue color, that way it would'nt look so much as a cheep swiming pool

Construction photos are like porn in many ways.

There's a phallic monstrosity pumping away at the sky, you could say.

Facade cheap???? ... gimme a break.

The glass is REFLECTIVE.

Wrong, lighter glass = more heat penetrating inside = higher A/C bill. It's not much in the colour then in IR and UV proof coating of the glass that reflect and/or block them and the heat as well.

MADE IN CHINA. The "Made in Germany" they were going to use, was ... crap.
