Though pollution in Dubai has increased, visibility was still low... Because last time I checked, it's in a desert. Am I wrong guys?

Don't perpetuate the myth. A quick glance at Wikipedia can tell you that Dubai wasn't founded ten years ago, like many of its critics seem to be assuming.

So, I am not alone here.

It will be so nice for me to visit Dubai or New York someday for a short of time, a week vacation, such as that.

Dubai deserved my respect and admiration as it has spectacular buildings and development.

But to live? Noway. Dubai is not my city of dream.
I love to live in a small city which is near to beach and mountain; living with jungle and creeks.

Cheers!

Looking out my window today I can clearly see the Burj Dubai.

It's 17.8 kilometers away, so visibility isn't that bad.

It does vary a lot though.

Between the -2 and 158M floor and it will be a one-stop destination for all art/culture/history lovers, like the person I was replying to, even that back home they probably haven't been in one for god knows how long.

It's a win-win situation

ok dubai has more highrises, and ok dubai has more architectural value... but dubai is just a place to get your dreams real, like las vega...

everything is new, new and new... and everything is "the highest", "the biggest", "the lagest" etc.

yes, dubai is a city... but a city of wonders, where you feel like "not beeing on the same earth like the rest of the world"... this is not liek london, paris or rome, istanbul or sydney, kuala lumpur or los angeles...

dubai belongs for me to the register with cities like Las Vegas, Celebrations, Disneyland, gated communities, perhaps new york or film like Truman show or richie rich... no history, no soul, no feelings...

I meant in comparison to a city that isn't in a desert. Here in Boston visibility is great. If we didn't have hills and a super tall of our own, I'm positive we'd be able to see it from 22km away (13 miles).

Anyway we are getting a bit off topic. lol

Guess it will keep employment for pool and window cleaners. In a very strong dust....or sand storm would glass be vunerable to damage....sandblasting ? Would hate to have to replace all those 'scrapers windows...or half anyway ?

I can see where your thinking but don't think New York should be on your list...that place has a heap...of everything!
