I get nightmares thinking about a young man going up the ladder inside the spire, and suffocating in the hot air or getting a muscle cramp or worse yet heart attack.
(Inside the steel spire the temperatures could get very high from the summer sun, I would imagine.)

1.2 m wide is hardly enough space for someone to move their legs and hands to crawl through ( or to look up or down!). I hope nobody ever has to go up the ladder through the spire.

300 m crawling through a steel tube !
most people need sedation just to be inside an MRI machine for a few miutes for a head scan.

Hi all.

1.2 meters = 4 feet. Lots of room to climb a ladder. He would have a safety harness on and the ladder has a one way sliding lanyard hook that slides up as you climb but won't let you fall. I would imagine the buddy system will be employed also.

Another great shot from OTR. Yes the steel sections are complete. I think the crane will be busy for a while yet with cladding.

With the revisions to the top platform one probably can't stand on the top. The plan had called for a nice railing so a worker could stand up there when changing the beacon bulbs. I imagine they will stand on an internal grating so the top half of their body will be outside so the can work. There was also to be a monorail for a BMU to hang off so the pinnacle could be cleaned just like the rest of the structure. Looks like that idea was revised so I guess no cleaning of the pinnacle will be done.

Thanks to all the photogs that live in Dubai or visit there and take shots ...

Climbing some really tall ladders can be fun when they use counterweights. A 50kg weight with a 25kg line attached to your harness. Makes you 25kg lighter at the bottom and 75kg lighter at the top. Small people have to haul ballast with them. The pulley restricts speed so you don't need additional fall protection.
Some ladder enclosures are only around .7m wide. 1.2 is huge compared to them.

This has probably been answered already: Where are the pictures of the interior? Can't someone get in with a camera? Pay a couple construction workers to wear a concealed camera. I'd love to see the lobby, the observation decks, heck even the hallways or elevators (not shafts)!

Yes the inside has had time to be fitted out by now - especially the Armani Hotel on the lower floors.

Possibly, the big crane can reach some cladding packs before dismantle but a rails installation at tier 23 and tier 22 terraces and the BMUs are enough IMO for the cladding installation and don't forget the blue small crane which can help.
