Question on skipped level numbers 41 74 110 137

This question is likely for Fury:

Mech level 2, 3, 4 and 5 each have a skipped level number, but mech level 1 does not have a skipped number.

Each mech level has a floor of 5.3 meters and one of 4.3 meters. All 5 are the same. The only difference I could see from the charts is that mech level 1 (levels 17-18) does not have an elevator machine room.

Mech 5, (136, skipped 137, and level 138) shows an elevator machine room, but what elevator group has a machine room there now? This may be something left over from the old 705 meter design with Obs on 142. This had the boutique offices ending at level 135 or so.

Do these levels 41, 74 110 and 137 actually exist? Will the Security guard get on a service lift and see these numbers ? Or are they actually skipped numbers ?

If skipped, what is the logical reason for it ?

Also, on the April 22 video on Burjdubaiskyscraper, there is a scene showing what looks like multiple-level heights in the steel section - could this be level 160 + mezz 1-2-3 ?

What are the physical floors like up there ? Are they solid concrete or steel floor or a mesh type floor ?

What's location of Interiors shown on video Apr 22 ?

The video on April 22 on Burjdubaiskyscraper showed a number of interiors of bathrooms, closets, halls, lights and other details. Can someone who knows tell us where these were taken? - Hotel? Apartments ?

Even in Adrian Smith's book, the interior renderings shown do not tell what areas they represent. Long stairways, high ceilings etc.

In the book, the digram that says "Level 171" looks very similar to others of lower levels - it might be level 131 or similar office floor height. There's a meeting room, food service, 3 passenger elevators and a service elevator.

Once the cranes disappear, there won't be much more to see outside, so we would like to know more about the inside if possible.

Thank you

I wonder what kind of metal is being used for that tower in Burj Dubai...

wind speeds and velocity I am sure is taken into account in the choice of material..

Hi Library.

I noticed a long time ago that there is no difference in level heights between the first MEP area and the rest. I don't know why they didn't skip a number in the first. As for the 4 skipped levels - they do not exist. I read somewhere they skipped them because of the near double height 5.3 levels.

I think the mezzanine levels are concrete and they don't cover the entire floor area of the level below.

The interior shots in the vid look to me that they are from levels fairly low in the structure when looking out the windows. Perhaps Armani levels - ?

I noticed right away the level 171 drawing in Smith's book is a misprint. I think they meant to label it 121.

Your Welcome

Thanks for the continued updates guys! It's nice to see some landscaping finally taking place as well as the cladding growing up into the steel sections.

Hmm April 22nd video? Will have to check that out. Was out of town

Imre, thanks in particular for really showing close up some of the local developments nearby. It's nice to see finer details like the district cooling plant and even the manicured landscaping by the apartment towers near to the Burj.

Now that the mall's been open for awhile, I'm sure more traffic and people are filling those empty voids of the larger development. Can you guys confirm things are busier there now? It's nice to see this start to wrap up in a sense - countdown to opening day, wooo!

The Dubai Mall is fairly busy now, at least on weekends and so is the promenade.

Lightning Protection - More

We must assume that they have a safety plan for workers, especially up on the top steel floors and the spire when an electrical storm moves in, which would be to get down lower and away from exposed high steel.

When completed the whole building is supposed to act as a Faraday Cage which will shield from lightning strikes and carry electrical surges to ground through the building's rebar and other lighting protection grounding and isolation systems. I am just not sure how that will work on the steel tube of the spire itself which could be struck not only on top but along the side as well.

As stated in the video clip from SOM I posted the URL for the building is so tall it could get lightning hits anywhere, but most will nail the tip of the spire.

The crane cabin should be completely isolated and grounded so that operator, who supposedly has been living up there, can ride out those storms...but I can't imagine what it must be like to be up there in a violent electrical storm taking those lightning hits. No Thanks.
