Fury, the crane boom has been in an almost horizontal position quite a lot recently.

I think they are now restricted at the base of the BD as to the storage areas being at the outset of the landscaping that is now in progress at the base.

What is so difficult to understand that construction and architecture have social and political issues? Also, if we can talk about Adrian Smith in this thread, we can talk about the guys who ACTUALLY do the construction of the Burj. It's relevant.

Someone said I obviously don't care... well, I do care. Enough to mention it, and correct a few obviously misguided notions about a worker's paradise that doesn't exist.

There is a fine line of context in what you can talk about. Talking about Adrian Smith's personal life would not be acceptable and be deemed off topic.

I see the discussion of the UAE's social and economic, "Problems" to be a different discussion. It's, "related", but you do have to reach for it.

Look on the title of the thread: Burj Dubai is topped out. So top of the structure is at the final height => 818 meters.

I mean, is 818 meters an approved height? Because we had many discusses about how tall is it.

The Burj Dubai is one of the most beautifully designed skyscrapers in my opinion. I kinda wished it would breach the 1 km mark but I guess at 818 m, it looks pretty tall already. I guess the design wouldn't culminate well if it were a kilometer high...

Burj Dubai interior work in progress
By Staff Writer on Tuesday, May 05, 2009

Work on the interiors of Burj Dubai, the world's tallest building developed by Emaar Properties, is progressing alongside the tower's exterior cladding.

The tower is currently over 800 metres (2,624.7 ft) high. The interior design of Burj Dubai was conceptualised and led by designer Nada Andric of Chicago-based Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM).

Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman, Emaar Properties, said: "Burj Dubai is a once-in-a-lifetime architectural accomplishment and is the Arab World's tribute to the art and science of modern engineering and design."

He added: "The interiors place a special focus on the region's heritage and geographical location in its design approach and selection of materials. The design emphasises on the best results in space planning and utilisation alongside the finest detailing, to give residents and visitors an unprecedented lifestyle experience."

Apart from glass, stainless steel and dark stones, the interiors also feature Silver Travertine flooring, Venetian stucco walls, handmade rugs, stone flooring and dark, intricate Brazilian Santos Rosewood to reflect shelter, comfort, and above all, restrained luxury. Surfaces on the upper floors will be advanced in finishes of silver metallic lacquers to provide a sense of brightness.

An interesting article about the interior of Burj Dubai; however there are finished apartments/rooms to see that they called in this article? Probably by now should a lot of apartments in low levels should be complete

I love how people from America are all poking fingers at Dubai and saying "ooooh, poor worker conditions, that's wrong!" Which country was built upon the backs of slaves? The U.S. And you know what? Half of the criticism is really just people wishing that their country built this, and because they didn't, they feel insecure and criticize.

Besides, Dubai's workers get paid dramatically more in Dubai than they would at home. No its not perfect, but no American has any business pointing the finger . . .single-handedly sent this planet into a recession.

Hey, more fountain shots, video please! Geraldd went awol.
