There are 3 or 4 threads about the workers conditions in Dubai , if they dont post there , warn them , then delete their posts on the BD thread , then suspend them , then delete their accounts if they are thick enough to come on here and spam again.

Half of the criticism is really just people wishing that their country built this, and because they didn't, they feel insecure and criticize.

Besides, Dubai's workers get paid dramatically more in Dubai than they would at home. No its not perfect, but no American has any business pointing the finger . . .single-handedly sent this planet into a recession.

Hey, more fountain shots, video please! Geraldd went awol.
"they" should also watch "war on democracy" anyway i do not want to give the impression that because they did worst and are still doing it but in a more secret manner than we have the right to abuse workers , not at all , but respect this forum and its rules , when someone in power asks you more than once to post your article links into the correct thread instead of this one , apologize and do so.

But you should inform yourself, Taufiq, as to how those asian/indian workers came to Dubai, and why they don't leave...

I really suggest you read the Independent article. It will put the Burj Dubai and other projects in a new light for you.

I'm all about this thread being about just the Burj Dubai, so long as we try to understand the constructors, not just what they're constructing.

This will be my last troll feeding. I have read that article, even the comments on the bottom of that article don't take it seriously. Published by the same newspaper, here is a critique and response to that article:

http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion...y-1666748.html

"Because when you stitch together a collection of unconnected facts taken out of context, you end up with a distorted and inaccurate picture: something that Britain's Dubai-bashers would do well to learn."

and this one is pretty good too:

Hi all.

Hi OTR.

I was referring to the inability of the crane to rotate 360 degrees rather than boom angle. Altin mentioned he saw the boom facing away from the structure. Since the 2 sections were finished on the larger wing of tier 22 that faces the crane it doesn't look possible for the crane to slew 360 degrees.

Hi Viper.

Site visits have not been allowed to the general public ever since the basejumping incident. A real shame since some pic updates from visits were great - Imre's visits come to mind. Most visitors take pics of the surrounding area (not that those aren't cool too) whereas Imre took many shots of various areas of the structure, MEP, etc.

I too wish we could see all the interior work as well.

The anti-Americanism in this thread is both tiresome and annoying.

Yes got you know Fury, and yes it can rotate 360 deg.

Just an illusion as to how close to the steel structure when looking up, but if you view the crane from SZR from the South there is loads of room.

The atmosphere at 818m would be about 5 C (9 F) cooler than at sea level. This kind of temperature difference is very noticeable and usually occurs when ascending mountains not buildings.

You know a building is awesome when the weather at the top is different from the weather at the bottom.

are you sure its 5 degrees centigrade? i thought the general rule was for every 100 meters up the temperature drop one degree centigrade so it should be around 8 degrees cooler at the top. correct me if im wrong.

Thats the rule of thumb, it still depends on the respective weather conditions. I'd say, you're basically both right, it is probably somewhat between 5 to 10 degrees centigrade

Edit: Altin, why didnt you remove the link that guy posted!

I believe the difference in temperature between the base and the top of the tower will be much less when the fountain will be operating.
