Somehow I think they managed to squeeze a water maintenance system into the $20 Billion budget.
This is nothing to worry about as there is ongoing construction all around the lake. Maybe they are preparing to fill additional parts of the lake, so there is no point in maintaining it during that time. It's to be expected that it gets a little dirty every now and then.

Burj elevator info - can we get it added to website !?

Can we get the BD elevator details added to Burjdubaiskyscraper.com ?

That's the best website that has everything on it - up to date and accurate.

Of the 50+ elevators in the BD, we have heard only about the Obs lifts and the 5000 Kg service lift. We have seen little about any of the others.

What levels do they go to and how fast are they? What is the present state of construction? Are they the final elevators or are they construction lifts set up indoors?

For the people who will live and work in the BD every day when it opens, these are the elevators they will use. Most won't even see the service elevators and unless they are going up to level 112 or higher, they won't see the Observation lifts either.

What happened to the 18 m/s speed they talked about for the Obs lifts ?

Now, it's 10 m/s - noted in all the websites - Otis, Wikipedia, Burjdubai.com.

Thank you for anything any knows about this.

Hi Library.

Just FYI - burjdubaiskyscraper.com is bikes' site - a fellow forummer. Your correct - he has the best BD site out there.

I think the elevators that are being used as internal construction elevators are the permanent ones. As for the construction status your guess is as good as mine. I know they were behind schedule some time ago but the current status is unknown to me.

Here is a small drawing showing the elevator layout and how high they run. I wish it was bigger but you can make it out somewhat.

Hope this helps.

The green water is like the Chicago river when it is purposely dyed green for St. Patrick's Day.

A Mess That canl Get Much Worse

Based upon how a backyard pool in Phoenix behaves in the summer heat you need major water circulation and chlorine or another chemical solution to keep from getting an algae bloom. Once that algae is established like we are starting to see in Dubai this is going to get worse and fast... it will start to stink and the algae will get down into all of those cracks and spaces of the hexagon shaped concrete bottom pieces...then a type of black algae can get established which latches onto surfaces like a barnacle and can be quite stubborn to remove. I remember a construction photo from when that was being built that showed channels under the hexagon bottom pices which I assumed was for water flow. Maybe the have a plan but if they didn't, they sure are gong to need one...and soon.

One would think they would pull the plug right now and drain that thing and get this figured before the green lagoon monsters start moving in.
