Hi christos.

The highest lift in the BD is BS4 starting at level 160 and ending in tier 18.

Hey Gerald.

Just had a look at your pic - very nice. One can zoom big time - great clarity. Can't wait to see the full panorama.

Yup - that's the lens. I of course have the RAW as well

The current test panorama (77 shots) is coming out at around 1.5 gigapixels. The only file format that seems to be able to cope is Photoshop's .psb.
The resulting file is 4.6GB.

And that's from the lens set at 285mm. God only knows what's going to happen when I move up to 400mm. Resolution will probably be in excess of 5 gigapixels. Not even sure the computer will be able to cope actually.

Hosting that one should be challenging...

Fantastic pic Gerald, the clarity at that height is phenomenal!

Are the little "studs" up the spire lights? If so they look like they are arranged in a completely random pattern, would of thought a spiral pattern similar to the fins on the metal spire itself would of been better.

1,000 special art pieces to grace Burj Dubai
by Tom Arnold
on Wednesday, 27 May 2009

ART COMMISSION: How the lobby inside the Burj Dubai will look.

More than 1,000 specially commissioned pieces of art will adorn the interiors of Burj Dubai, the world’s tallest building, and the surrounding Emaar Boulevard, developer Emaar Properties announced on Wednesday.

Pride of place in the iconic structure’s residential lobby will be an artwork featuring 196 bronze and brass alloy cymbals - representing the 196 countries of the world - suspended on titanium rods anchored at the bottom of two pools.

Visitors to the lobby will be able to hear a distinct timbre as the cymbals, which are plated with 18-carat gold, are struck by dripping water, intended to mimic the sound of water falling on leaves, Emaar said in a statement.

Emaar chairman Mohamed Alabbar handpicked ‘World Voices’, which was created by internationally-renowned Spanish artist Jaume Plensa to symbolise reeds in a lake ...

I was just thinking after seeing pictures, how often do the roads have to be managed? looks like constant migration of sand cover roads in sand a lot.

I know this is just a little thing, but if they have 196 cymbals to represent 196 countries, they are almost surely counting Taiwan in their count of countries. Will this upset China at all? I mean I am good with it, but I wonder if the Chinese will be?

Well hello out there!

First post in half a year or even more!

Is there any progress on this magnificent structure since i stopped lurking and posting?
Is the entire process of cladding completed or are the top mecha floors still opend up?

Did they jacked up the spire for couple of meters more for the heck of it?

Hi James.

- We've topped out on Jan 17 - structure finished a few weeks ago.
- Cladding not complete - was slow for a while but is back up to speed now
- No - 818.0 as per the plans not counting the beacons. Oh, and they didn't put the top platform up - for frick sakes ...

Hi all.

burjdubaiskyscraper - Tony Montana

I am quite surprised to see how much landscaping is still left to be done. I figured podium zone A (the side facing the lake - with the crane above) would still have lots to do being it is the staging area for the top crane. These pics show all 3 sides have alot left to be done. Great shots though, showing there is some landscaping features coming along.
