Hi Guaporense.

There is a few figures out there but the numbers for the BD including the podium range from 465,000 to 512,000 square meters. (5 million to 5.5 million square feet)

I agree, I've been showing it to people all day, it really showcases the height. Imre really outdid himself there.

Glass facade seems to be over 90% of total installation. The tower now looks very beautiful from every angle.

Picture of Pool?

Do we have any pictures yet of the outdoor pool at the set back tier on Level 76?

I've been looking at various aerials and such but can't seem to spot it.

Curious just how big it is, what it looks like, and how far along they are with finishing it.

Please post 'em if ya got em.

Well, first I thought that the Burj Dubai had 660,000 square meters, then somebody here told me that the building has only 330,000 square meters. Now, the 500,000 square meters figure makes more sense, also, since this building should be not only the tallest, but the largest skyscraper.

just think, the glass on Burj Dubai hasnt been cleaned yet (dust removal), so you can only imagine how gleaming it will be once BMUs are in use.!

Anyone know of a site that would be willing to host a 50000 x 30000 pixel panorama of the Burj Dubai?

I've got it "zoomified" (see http://www.zoomify.com/ for an example).

Imagine this level of detail -

- but for the entire building...

The original .psb file is close to 2GB. Clearly due to file size and pixel dimensions, it isn't actually possible to host it as a single file.

Zoomify creates lots of tiles from the main image. I need to re-export it because I need to change the dimensions of the "window", but last time it created about 32,000 files totalling 640MB.

Obviously with the way Zoomify works, it's highly unlikely any one individual would get remotely close to downloading that much data, but I would expect bandwidth consumption could get pretty significant if word gets out about it.

(I should point out that this is still very much a 'test'. There's one stitching error that I won't be bothering to fix - this thing took 36 hours to process - and I plan on doing one about twice this size at some point over the next month, access and weather permitting.)

Suffice to say, if anyone does want to host this, then you can probably count on getting quite a few hits to your website - this will I think be the first giga-pixel image of the BD to hit the web, so there could be quite a bit of publicity around it.

i'm not so sure if this would work
but if you would be willing to upgrade your storage, i think picasa webalbums has a pretty good photo hosting service. like i said, i don't know if they do that kind of stuff, but maybe you could try?

height does not always equal the greatest floor area. there are hundreds of buildings that have a bigger square footage than the burj.
