Hi all.

Great update yet again Imre.
Only 2 more tiers for the top crane to self lower and it will be in position to be disassembled. The 12.5 ton cube is pretty small to weigh that much. I wonder if they are adding weight up there to change the resonance frequency (if that is the proper term) - kind of like a dampener but not quite ?

Great find Omar !
Fantastic to see what the revised "platform" looks like up there. Very interesting. One thing I noticed is the large "tab" welded to the inside, just above the hatch. Looks to be an inch thick with one or more fair size holes in it. I wonder if that is a crane attachment point for when they were adding the top of the pinnacle before jacking started ?

I'm with Gerald on the idea that we could have much more video and pics from up there. Shots of the view but even more important to me - shots of the structure.

Have no idea. But try to ask him personally at his webpage . If he want to make it at the end of 2009, I think he is already planning the detals...

After stopping and pausing that video clip at a number of places a few observations...

- You can see a number round steel rods sticking up at the base of spire tube and on the back of the warning lights. Can we assume those must be the lighting rods since we know the top has repeatedly been hit hard by major lightning strikes, yet there is little sign of any scorching on those rod tips.

- It appears that those lighting instruments must be re-lamped from the FRONT since there does not appear to be any rear access point for changing the bulbs unless there is a way from doing that from the bottom that can't be seen on the video. Can you imaging hanging out over the edge up there to change those bulbs from the front! Yikes!

- Near the end of the video you can see the camera pointed down around the guy's legs and what looks like the hatch to top of the spire, with a round wheel like the hatch on a submarine.

- There are a number arched topped holes in the side of the spire tube and that gives an idea of just how thick that steel is up there.

- It seems the guy is trying to hold it together and was a tad freaked by how much the spire was wobbling up there...hopefully he chilled out enough to get some stable video and had a digital still camer in his pocket..if not, YES, what a waste of a rare opportunity.

I've took some screenshots from the video.

What are these pipes sticking out?

View from the top.

Are these the cables for the lightning strikes?

Watching down from the spire. Great view.

The access hatch to the top of the spire.

So much wind, the sound basically tells us how much force is put on the tower itself.

There must be certain size limit to who can go up to the top (no offence) but the hole in the spire is quite narrow.

He said he could sense the movement of the building, didn't he. The spire on top has a diameter or 1.2 meters.

No way. That cable must be enclosed with protective polypropylene. I think taht cable belongs to the aircraft beacons.

Hi all.

Land - the beacons most likely swivel so the bulbs can be changed. IIRC the pinnacle is 30 mm thick up at the top. I'm not on my main box right now.

Nice screenshots Deq.

I wonder if the lightning rod is what is in your last shot - held by the 3 setbolts so it can be changed ?

I must have watched that vid 50 times now - stopping in different spots. So much more I want to see ... inside from top to bottom ... so much more ...

Who - if that is you we are all expecting much more. MORE MORE MORE !!!
