Does anyone have ANY idea when those open places on the mechanical floors are going to get cladded?

Lol it costs 2400 euros. Quite an expensive hobby but great camera. And probably that lens costs a lot too.

The fountains look beautiful. Are people beginning to move into the area yet? Or is there still lots on construction equipment around the BD?

About the BS-series lifts

The orangish covered in area above is the machine room for it. The shaft starts somewhere between level 125 and 131 - I can't tell exactly from what I have.

Level 160 is where BS4 elevator starts that goes up into tier 18 - again I can't tell which section it goes to from what I have. BS4 is the worlds highest elevator installation. It is fairly short though - even if it goes to section 18B (the highest section of tier 18) and it probably does, it is only 25.6 meters tall.

As I understand it, OB1 and 2 end at 124, and BS-2 is right behind OB1. OB1 and 2 are fast and heavy duty machines that need some head room at the top for the machines and over-run allowance. BS-3 also needs room at the bottom for buffers. These areas need re-inforced construction to support and stand up to the vibration and movement of these machines. I don't see BS-3 starting much lower than level 128, but it could be higher than that.

Do we have the world's highest skylobby on level 160, as BS3 ends there, and BS4 starts and is right facing ?

How many skylobbies are there in the Burj - on 43, 76, 123, 160, and would there be another one in the 130's where BS1 and BS3 connect ?

Thank you

Landscaping and entrances questions

Which entrance would be the first to be opened - the Hotel on Level 1 ? or will it also be the Concourse which is the business entrance.

Apparently the outdoor area near the concourse entrance is still being used by cranes. Even though the big one is gone - they still need the space on the ground to bring down the rest of the cranes.

Has everything large that needs to be lifted by cranes gone up already, so that lifts and BMU's can do the rest ?

Maybe, soon we will see more landscaping work in progress. How are all the trees and plants kept watered so they don't dry up and burn up in the 45 to 50-degree heat at this time of year ?

Thank you

Hi Library.

I agree with you on BS3 starting point. It's shaft is in the same place in the floorplan as OB1 and 2. I posted BS3 starts between 125 and 131 but I meant 125 and 138 - my bad. I don't have any prints or drawings between 124 and 139.

Yes - level 160 has listed as one of it's uses "spire hoist lobby".

You have all the skylobbies correct. Those are the only 4. It looks to me that BS1 ends at level 140.

I think the Hotel entrance on level 1 will be the only entrance that will be part of the soft opening on 09 09 09 - if they make the deadline.

It seems reasonable to assume the crane has hoisted up anything heavy already. I don't believe the BMU's can reach down much further than the areas they will be cleaning.

I have some shots from on the office annex from late June. There is more formwork being done for the multitude of concrete features and retaining walls, etc. I would imagine they have a 3 inch pipe supplyin' each tree and bush to beat the desert heat ...

Good postin' with ya Library. I think we have like minds in the way that we think about the many other aspects of this thing other than how good it looks.

But it does look bitchin - don't it !?!

The rubber pipes are 1" thick, they're not there to cool the plants down but to feed them.

You have to remember the closest building to it is over 300m tall, it makes supertalls look tiny, if it had smaller buildings around it your opinion may be different.

Adam from how high are those pics taken, or don't you know? And WOW even more dust as I thought.

And other question for Fury or someone who knows, how will they prevent people coming in via the normal entrance, so not the one to observation deck via Mall? Will they ask identification or something, or like something in the metro where you need to put in a ticket, and the gate will open?

looking inland from BD makes you feel really lonely, atm the development goes around near the coastline.
