Both manned and high-tech security (access card with chip)

Anyway Altin. Have you talked to Henrik ? It's been months since he posted those few teasers out of his thousand shots of the early piling work. It would be nice to see a few (hundred) more of those.

On another note. I wonder how it is decided who gets internal site visit priviliges ? Maybe katymcc (the one who put the shots on Flickr that were posted here today) is part of the project ... We seem to get random site visit shots now and then by random people - it would be nice to know how they get in.

Also it seems most of them take shots of the view from up there. I like the view too but I guess not everyone is a skyscraper nut like us and wants shots of the intricacies of the structure and internal works. Perhaps they are not allowed to take those kinds of shots ?

Where is our good friend Henrik?

Spelling was not great, but what a contribution to the forum.

Hi OTR.

Different people.

VanHenrik is the english challenged one.

Henrik is the one that posted early piling shots and said he has a thousand or so of them. Either he was involved with the BD or he knows someone who was. Altin said he knows him and would hook up and try to get us more shots.

^because they can! they had the money, they had planning rules and regulations in place with hectares of new CBD zoning.
they had new engineering techniques and architects that could design a 800m high structure!
height restrictions limit heights all over the world. 610m in America for example.
also money$$$$ limits very tall bldgs.
Shanghai have the shanghai tower UC atm at 632m high, some 200m lower then Burj dubai.
i think reaching height limit for shanghai?

thanks for photo updates everyone.

the lev124 ob deck lifts run at 18m per sec. which will take about 30sec to reach 442m.i guess another 30sec to reach lev162.
could be wrong.

Well: feed = water

No chance yet to meet him, I only spoke with him on the phone a few months back but he became a father recently so you can understand. I usually don't forget things even if it appears as such, so don't be surprised if after some time when this has been forgotten, I will just take hold of them and post them here.

Because today's constructing technology is beyond imagination. There is not a problem to built a supertall (800+ metres)

From a lot of money coming from oil pumps, tourist economy etc

I think they will first finish the interior. And than do more about green.

Wikipedia, Otis, Burjdubaiskyscraper were all quoting 18 m/s at one time, now they all say it's 10 m/s speed of the OB lifts. Some time ago, something got changed, in that the lower speed is now being quoted, but I have not seen any answers when I questioned it before.

Obviously, it got designed, negotiated, specified, and has been built, but I have not yet seen seen the answer on SSC.

As to getting to the top, I would expect BS3 to run about 4 or 5 m/s as it is a service lift, without an express run section, although it covers about 30 to 35 levels. BS4 is a short-run lift - I would expect its speed to be no more than 1 to 2 m/s at the most.

I along with many others would like to know more about all of this.

Thank you for any info that become available.
