Difficult to say. More logical it would be to say that it is pollution, but then why it would be more dense on the desert side?

Emaar Vows to Complete Burj Dubai in 2009

DUBAI - Emaar Properties, the Middle East's biggest property company which is building the world's tallest skyscraper Burj DubaiBurj Dubai, said on Monday it will complete the tower this year, but could not disclose the exact date when the building will be opened.

"Burj DubaiBurj Dubai is scheduled to open this year," a spokesperson of EmaarEmaar said in an e-mailed statement.

Emaar, which recently announced it was planning to merge with the real estate business of Dubai Holdings said "more details on the official launch will be provided in due course."

The tower which consists of about 160 floors, was originally scheduled for completion in September this year. Shares of Emaar which are listed at the Dubai Financial Market, dropped by 5.8 per cent to Dh2.28 on Monday.

Its obvious they cant put elevators to the cathedrals But have you ever seen modern structure with observation deck higher than lets say 300m without one? Still, i hope its chance to use burj dubai potential. Even swfc is going to have higher observation deck than burj

I think it's mostly sand blown into the air by all the activity on the construction sites. Afterwards the wind blows it towards the desert.

I meant cathedrals, that are allready build (very old ones) btw Sagrada Familia is not a cathedral, its basilica
