My 6th visit to the site yesterday, dating back to when it was 5 stories tall.

Stayed at the Address hotel, so chance to see it from the 63rd floor bar there and also the tourist view by the lake and mall. The bar, Neos, at the Address, is cheesy and low class, expensive, with hookers, even on a Friday evening. Drunken Russian girls in the elevator did not improve my impression. Rooms there though are mind-bonkingly 5 star, and at GBP 140 out of season, B&B, a snip.

I have to tell you that BD is looking magnificent. So domineering but, at the same time, so beautiful. At night, the aircraft beacon at the top looks impossibly high from close up. Friday night not a lot of activity because of the weekend, so it was looking ghostly. Did not bother with photos, because the ones here are classy.

This whole area, by the mall, is touristy, but high class, not quite in the class of the view of Victoria from Kowloon in HK, but with good pizza and local gourmet restaurants. The fountains are a delight, some serious art there. Emiratis are already taken to late night walks their with their families. The stroll is to be recommended.

But the temperature was disastrous, far too high for a European like myself. Who would go to Dubai in July? Not many people, by the feel of the cavernous Emirates terminal as I left today for low-rise Bangladesh. Come the winter, this place will be the main draw for tourists, IMHO.

And BD will be the star of the show. It is amazing!!!!

Hi Paul.

whoami said the print is the core of the concourse level. i can't make out the name at the bottom. I only have a drawing for the entire podium at the concourse level. It is clear though.

Interested. I can't see the second one either - was that an elevator plan ?
Thanx who.

Hi Library.

Kraken Opus is working on a book for the BD. They are well known for their work that includes great photography. Perhaps they will include the records set by the BD. One edition will be a 15 foot high (another record) book in one of the lobbies. They will be auctioning off some copies and select few will get some other copies. I'm hoping some rich person will get us some scans of the thing as I would imagine the price will be exorbitant.

Photo of Pool?

Does anyone have a photo showing the status of the outdoor swimming pool that is on top of one of the lower tiers? So far I can't seem to find anything that shows that.

That's an elevator schedule. For the Tower and for the Office annex. Does "schedule" then mean a diagram of elevator shaft heights?

Hi Paul.

Please repost the schedule if that is the second thing whoami posted - just a red X here.

I will have a look as it may be from the old 705 meter revision (whoami would know too).

Nice find Helghast - great shot.

Here is what the area looked like only 7 years ago from the same angle just a few hundred yards further back. The Dusit Hotel that can be seen in the second shot is just off to the right in the first.

Amazing transformation in that short span of time !

Hi all.

OK I have the elevator schedule now.

It is too fuzzy to see the level numbers clearly. Up above 110 is where one can tell whether this is from the 705 revision. I should make this more clear. The 705 meter revision had tier 10 starting at 114 and from there up quite a few differences to the current version. Then it looks like they did a revision between the 705 and the current 818 - whether the height was set somewhere between also I can't tell. This interim revision had the levels and tiers up to tier 17 the same as the current one but above that the names and amount of the tiers were different.

By a rough count the schedule is compatible with the current revision.

whoami. Please try to get clearer scans as there is much good info on that schedule.

Keep 'em coming - thanx.
