Ironstone is not DOA. The sales office is up. They'll probably start construction this spring.

The only other projects going on in Burlington are these 2;

http://www.stratacondos.ca/

http://www.newhorizonhomes.ca/timessquare.html

And getting that god forsaken pier done! It's become the bane of Burlington residents.

OpArt condo is a step forward for comfortably backward Oakville

JOHN BENTLEY MAYS

Key quotes:

Quote:
Developed by Torontonian Jim Neilas, and designed by architect Stephen Teeple – both known for their artistically adventurous inner-city Hogtown projects – OpArt will be composed of two white volumes perched atop a two-level podium.
Quote:
But the two mid-rise towers, across most of their bleached surfaces, will be spangled with black-framed windows in jaunty patterns. Hence the name of the complex – an allusion to the eye-popping Op Art painting style of the 1960s.
Quote:
The use here of a window-wall system – the cladding will be precast concrete – is a departure from the common fabrication of condo skins nowadays.
Quote:
Inside the concrete-framed podium and pair of cubes will be 181 condominium apartments, each furnished with a 10-foot ceiling and a balcony. Unit sizes will range from 579 square feet in an average one-bedroom suite up to 1,172 square feet, again on average, for three bedrooms. Seven townhomes, each 945 square feet in area and featuring 20-foot ceilings and a garden, open the bottom of the podium. When OpArt goes on the market later this spring, the asking price will be about $500 a square foot.

I think it'll turn out junky. Just keep things simple and let the lake provide the beauty.

http://homesandcondosblog.com/home/o...land-2822.html

Quote:
Taking a page from its Toronto neighbor to the east, the City of Oakville is looking to sell a large plot of land it has deemed surplus.
The site – located at 2264 Trafalgar Road –is situated at the northwest corner of Trafalgar Road and Glenashton Drive. The 7.2 hectare property is currently zoned as agricultural, however the city is planning on re-zoning the area in hopes it can sell to a developer who will bring an urban, high density retail, commercial, office or mixed use development.
The city is hoping that any development will encourage the city’s growth as an urban pedestrian area.
The proposed re-zoning would allow a residential or office building that would climb up to 12-storeys, with ground floor retail, commercial or office spaces.
The city would allow a building to rise up to 16 stories, as long as the developers enter into an agreement with the town to provide public benefits. The site has been on the market for some time and the town intends to set up the search for a buyer who will maximize the development potential of the site.

Fresh rendering for Rain Condos from BuzzBuzzHome. Looks neat, and much improved from the old render. The tower massing/design and podium is pretty good considering its location
