The people building it are not in a rush. They were not given a time to complete it. I think there is 6-12 people working on it. They higher more people when needed.

I don't think anyone would want to stay there since it has taken like 4 years I think now.

I learned this from working at the Home Depot beside it.

I drive by this all the time and shake my head. It makes no sense to me why it would take so long, if they weren't in a rush then would tell me that money isn't an issue since this project must bleed money. But if that were the case, they'd put more resources into it to get it done. It's an eyesore and an embarrassment to whoever the owner is. I tend to think the builder got some kind of open ended contract and is milking it for all its worth. Never seen more than 3 people on site at any given time.

Someone told me that CH news did a segment on it about 6 months ago after numerous inquiries from their viewers. The owner is some hotel. CH couldn't get anyone to answer any questions about it either on site or by phone. Something isn't right there.

Wow this sounds like it would be great for the area (minus the traffic)! thanks for posting. Only had time to skim through the article, how close/likely is this to being fully approved?

Is there more development going on near the commuter tracks, or near the lakeshore?

Finally! Some answer regarding the half-built, mystery building right next to the QEW, off the Burloak exit.

Does anyone know what they are doing at 9thline and uppermiddle road?

I understand the widening of the roads but they are also digging in the areas of the On ramps at the QEW.

Agreed. For a town with so many upper-middle class people you would expect there to be good places for shopping but nope, it's horrendous

They are extending North Service road over Joshua's creek onto Ford Dr.
Everything else going on in that area is just widening the roads to account for the heavy traffic.

What the hell is being built on Dundas and Neyagawa? The sign says it's called Dundas Market Square and that the project is by Trinistar Corporation but I can't find any information about it online. Not even on the developer's site

I'm sure you already know by now, but if anyone is curious, it's a Fortinos.

Good bye Glen Abbey golf course!
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/...ticle27012533/

The valley going underneath the bridge will be protected.

I can only imagine all those homeowners who have backyards backing onto the golf course, spat their morning coffee out, when they woke up and read this.

Interview with Club Link Ceo. Rai Sahi about Canadian Open and the Glen Abbey devlopment.

Says there's a possibility that they would build a new golf course in the Oakville area to make up for Glen Abbey being developed into a residential/commercial neighbourhood.

Quote:
“We are having conversations to build a new Glen Abbey at some point, somewhere to host the Canadian Open,” Sahi told the newspaper’s David Lea. “I think we have some opportunities. We’ve had some conversations with certain properties (to see) if they are available. We mentioned that to the mayor and I think it will be his preference as well to have it in Oakville. That will be the first effort we will make. In case we don’t get it, we have had conversations with Golf Canada so we will definitely have other opportunities to do that. We have lots of time to plan for this.”

Wow, let's be upset that some rich WASPs' property values just went down and that they might have to travel a bit further to go golfing
