Forget about new expressways and railroads - RUF is better!

This is a very simple but absolutely brilliant Danish transport invention called RUF Rapid Urban Flexible. It is basically eletric cars and buses that can both drive on ordinary roads and ride on monorails, which is why the system is called Dual Mode. It is however too complex for me to show and explain here, so you may help by posting pictures and information about it from the homesite: http://www.ruf.dk/

Below are some pictures that should give a you a pretty good clue to what this is all about, but please read the introduction for the best possible understanding: http://www.ruf.dk/ruf2006.pdf

They are going to built a 2 km long RUF test track in Denmark within the next couple of years, so that politicians around the world can see the system work. The city of Calcutta are already very interested in the system, but wanna see it work first. I think we will se it be used within 8 years.

No offense, but it does look like a reincarnation of so-called Personal Rapid Transit.

Except thats its much more flexible and well thought out. As public transport alone it could beat anything else at a much lower cost.

Gotta say that I dont understand why people in here arent more exited about this project.

I highly doubt it. The Dutch public transport is one of the busiest in the world (the trains at least) and still turned out unprofitable, billions of subisidies are still needed each year.

A significant part of the people who use the PT are students. They have a PT-card with which they can travel for free.

The RUF project looks nice, but we have a few years in front of us, to see that in reality, i think
