I'm sure I'll be directed somewhere else where the answer lies after asking this, but . . .
Where is the second tower? Wasn't this project originally going to consist of twin towers?

Not really. It was just two projects by the same developer on either side of Virginia (the other being where the parking lot is, just S of Cristalla). I think the other is going through design review also.

Oh, okay. I just remember the two buildings looking very similar, which is all right since it creates coherency (although diversity is nice, too); I hope the second tower across the street makes it through design review without being watered down into another dull, taupe Seattle box.

Does anyone know anything sort of definitive about the status of these two? It's been a while since this thread was updated and it sort of dwindled out without any major announcement one way or another.
Edit: As you can see both towers are still listed on their website with dates 'TBD.' http://www.justencompany.com/Portfolio.html |

Are we just saying that about buildings we aren't sure about or was there an actual statement from someone involved in the project that confirms that?

You'll find that if there actually is news popping up about these kinds of projects, the DJC or Seattle Times, or posters on this board will be screaming it from the hills. If you haven't heard any news, thats probably cus their isn't any news to report.

Yah I didn't ask what the local news sources are. I'm fully aware of the outlets you listed. I asked about the current status. If the status is 'on hold' is the paper going to be reporting it periodically? No. I merely was curious if anyone knew anything about them since the thread just went quiet without anything solid or official reported.

I'll do me, you do you. I'm not digging the sarcastic tone of his post. I'm well aware of the local news outlets and didn't need them listed for me. What is it you guys don't understand about the question of it's current status? More likely than not a new news article about the project would be about a change in it's status not it's current status. I'm curious about the LAST news to come out or the last rumblings not the next news. Why is that so hard to understand?

The last news on this project.
http://www.djc.com/news/re/12001016.html If anything else comes up, people on this board are good at finding it.

Thanks, I've read that one before. I really do hope they wake at least one of these two up because their impact on the skyline would be dramatic. I'd love to see Downtown stretched towards Belltown and the Needle.

Justen is barely clearing a profit on 1521, many years after they started working on the design. They barely survived thru the economic hell of 2008-2010 having to sell 1521 condos one by one over years, instead of pre-sales as they had anticipated. He's lucky he escaped without a bankruptcy, unlike Opus Northwest. I doubt he is clamoring for a chance to do that all over again.
I'd say this project is dead.
