NYC:Staten Island hoods-Oakwood

Heading south brings us into the hood known as Oakwood. It goes from Cheserton Ave to Tysens La between Amboy Rd and Lower NY Bay. This hood is mostly residential. For the most part of its history, it was mainly farmland. In the 1860's, the B&O RR had built the SIRT to allow for transportation between Tottenville and St George. However, Oakwood remained rural in most of its land until after 1964. Robert Moses wanted to build the Willowbrook Expwy through here, but was stopped. There isn't really that much to see in Oakwood as there is in the rest of the area. You can get here by taking the SIR to the Oakwood Hts Station. Here is what you will find in Oakwood.
