The second..

But in the case with Moldova the communists were not so successful in creating a separate identity, so both of you are lucky. In Macedonia, it really helped the communists that Bulgarians and Serbians are so similar, so with coersion and money, you can make a new "middle" identity.

I will leave the question unanswered in order not to spoil the threat.

For me Moldova looks a little bit strange and depresive... Architecture doesnt look good to me. Grey... My impression is really not so good. But I hope better day will come.

Hmmm... In Poland unfortunately Moldova doesn't have good opinion. Most of people doesn't even know that this country exist, and those who know consider it with incredible pooverty. We don't hear much about Moldova, and when there are some articles in newspapiers, they aren't good. Recently I read one. It was about seeling kidneys to Turkey, thet when you seel one you will be able to buy a house and furnish it and that this is the only way to have enough money to live. Another one was about lonley kids whose parents went to Greece or somewhere else to work, and left their 12 years old kids alone, and that in Moldova a great number of kids are growing up alone. The last one was about incredible pooverty and this conflict with transdnistria.

So unfortunaltey Moldova doesn't have good press in Poland....

Romania is better known in Poland than Moldova. Its really hard to find sth in media about Moldova, we generally dont hear and read anout this country at all.
Romania has a little bit better position, couse Poles know that is quite big country, it is in EU, it develops fast etc. But still many Poles identify Romanians with Gipsies and this is not good.

Well, I think not In Poland Romania is a synonim of backwardness. We consider Romania with gypsies, and gypsy = beggar. We actually have lot's of romanian mothers begging on our streets. And that's probably the only thought which comes when we are thinking about Romania. Unfortunately it is probably the only country we don't have positive association with. It's sad to say, but we consider Romania only with pooverty, gypsies, poor kids begging for sweets and wooden houses like this Borat one. The only positive thing we consider with Romania is Dracula, but I don't know if it's very positive

But it could change now. Recently i saw an advertising video about holidays in Romania in bus. I have to say that it was very nice But on the other hand those associations wiht Romania have very long tradition...

They're all made by me. I have lots of them on my computer, I just have to find time to upload them on the SSC on a separate Chisinau thread.

Don't worry. I will let you know.

Very nice picture. Judging from those pictures you cant really say that Moldova is undeveloped or poor.

Well, in general Ukrainians have a somewhat negative opinion about Moldova, looking down upon them. I think it's disgusting and shameful. I have a very positive opinion, very nice people and I wish it the best.
