Mostaganem suite...
Mostaganem (arabe: مستغانم), est une ville et wilaya d'Algérie. Elle est la 27e wilaya dans l'administration territoriale algérienne. (104 m d’alt. ;140 000 hab.;ch-l. d’une wilaya de 704 000 hab.) ; située sur le rebord d’un plateau côtier, la ville contemple à l’ouest la large baie d’Arzew que termine le Djebel Orousse ; elle est assise sur les rives de l’Aïn Sefra dont, à plusieurs reprises et notamment en 1927, elle a eu à redouter les crues ; elle se compose d’une ville neuve, très étendue, et d’une vieille ville, plus compacte, accrochées de part et d’autre d’un profond ravin creusé par l’Aïn Sefra, qui arrose des jardins. La localité est bien située au débouché des plaines du Chélif et de la Macta, Bien qu’elle ait depuis longtemps cédé le pas à la métropole de l’Algérie occidentale, Oran, Mostaganem est une ville aimablement grouillante. Elle a gardé un caractère ancien, mais s’est également ouverte à une économie moderne avec la création d’une sucrerie produisant de 70 à 80 000 tonnes de sucre raffiné par an, ainsi qu’une usine de pâte à papier traitant 180 000 tonnes d’alfa par an. Mostaganem Province/Algeria

Mostaganem is a wilaya of Algeria. The capital is Mostaganem. Other localities include Ain Nouissi, Ain Tadles and Tazgait. Mostaganem is known by the Moors when all inhabitants of Mostaganem are Andalusian and known by Zianides of Tlemcen and Andalusian Music and lot of Tlemcenians living there and known by Sidi Lakhdar Benkhalouf the poet and writer of Mostaganem. Mostaganem (population, 2005 est: 150,000) is a port city in and capital of Mostaganem province, in the northwest of Algeria. The city, founded in the 11th century lies on the Gulf of Arzew, Mediterranean Sea and is 72 km ENE of Oran. The city was founded in the 11th century as Murustage but has origins going back to Punic and Roman times, when it had the name Cartenna. In 1516 it was captured by the pirate Barbarossa and became a centre for Mediterranean sea piracy, as well as a commercial port. By 1700 it had come under Ottoman rule.
