I think these towers are ment to be together. Only one of them should be beautyful but together they are just... perfect .

I got a pretty good view on the towers and the area from across the river a week ago. This area is quickly becoming one of the most expensive in the whole city. Super luxury Atelier Tower just across the 42 street from the future River Place.

I've read that the Chinese consulate one day might be replaced with a magnificent skyscraper as a sign of China's power in the economic and social capital of the US.

Honestly - I am really skeptical about the prospects of this idea. Though Chinese consulate looks as ugly old day, once Chinese will grasp how many regulations they have to go through before they build anything they will loose a lot of sleep. Also don't forget - our dear NIMBYs with almost unlimited power which doesn't exist in Communist China where no one has a voice - I doubt they will have a desire to proceed with this idea.

They can build at least 35,000 sq m (about 375,000 sq ft. for the Yanks) as of right. That's easily an 80 story, thin tower.

This consulate pre-dates China's rise as a superpower, and therefore, I believe that the Chinese would like to have a symbol of their power which would be in a prominent space. Oddly enough, it's also across the street from the Intrepid which is an homage to US military might.

The UPS building just north of the consolate also will be gone in the next 10 to 15 years. That site is enormous and must contain enough rights to build two 100+strory towers.

35.000 sq m an 80 story tower?
Here we build thin towers of 45.000m with 45 stories...

^ If you can't understand English, don't bother to reply.
Obviously you didn't get the statement, which has nothing to do with the appearance, only the volume of skyscrapers in general.
80 story towers with 35.000m2 seems a bit impossible. Would more likely be 40 stories, even if thin.

No, simply you were not clear with your statement (nor did it appear to have a point, but that is another aspect...). You wrote something without saying why you did in the first place (since you are not making a clear point, you should if you want to write in decent comprehensible English).
If you can't express yourself in English, don't bother to express yourself with it. You can always try with the universal language of art....
