There is some truth to that, there is already enough to keep up with in Dubai, without having to follow how all the proposals are progressing on the drawing baord :P.

Nice single family house by the same architechts on the previous page, by the way.

Someone started an article on this on Wikipedia, I did a couple of small edits to it, but I'm no Wikipedia expert.

To all the enciclopaedia writers around, go for it:

2007 Greatest Hits

The Wave Tower has been selected by Skyscrapernews as one of the 2007 greatest hits.

Personally, I would sign his list, maybe adding a couple a things, and substrating the Dubai Towers, which I find specially awful.

What would be on your list?

i doubt the location showed in that map is feasible: the original proposal for the Burj was in this area and that was slated being too close to the airport. Perhaps being in the immediate turn out path for landing and taking off aircraft, i doubt it'll end up being located here.

Nevertheless, absolutely stunning design: seems to have a Burj Dubai and Burj al Arab influence.

Um...Al Burj is almost 3 times as tall as this. That makes a HUGE difference.

Unfortunately the article is only in spanish, the interview is a about a different project, so you're right about the location.
If you follow the link under the scanned you'll see pictures of the correspondent building.

The Wave Tower: A Green “Seascraper”

i dont know if this was posted before

Designed for the waterfront in downtown Dubai, this “Wave Tower” will be located right on the water. A large undulating plane creates a bridge to the base of the tower, then folds upwards to create one of the twisting silk-screened glass sides of the structure. The “seascraper” is designed to be a green building. Interior gardens or “sky gardens” will be located in common zones, improving the air quality and working as natural temperature regulators. The silk-screened glass skin will assist with controlling the heat from the sun.

The tower will contain a water purification plant. It will desalinate and purify the surrounding sea water and then be filtered and allocated for drinking water, landscape maintenance and sewage. The building is also said to boast “state of the art sustainable technologies” to minimize energy consumption and maximize water efficiency.

The tower have 92 floors and be 370 meters when complete. It will be a mixed-use building: it will contain offices, commercial malls and high-end residences. The Wave Tower was designed by the Spanish architectural group A-cero.

A-cero Works 1996-2006

From Archinect:

Quote:
A-cero Works 1996-2006

Joaquin Torres, head architect of A-cero, an architecture, interior and urban design practice based in Spain, presents a book showcasing the best works made by the firm in its first ten years...

The material featured in this publication includes early projects such as the geometrically pure houses that gave the firm its name in Spain, a cubic marble mausoleum or a concrete building for the university of A Coruña, the first competition won by the then young firm created by a group of students, eager to carry out their vision of architecture. An idea where the bounds between architecture and sculpture are blurred, creating buildings at once functional and expressive.

These ideals and engagement of the early days is still present in a firm that has gone through a great growth, working on projects all around the globe, in places like Santo Domingo or Dubai, where they have recently opened an office.

The hardcover book presents architecture, interior, industrial and furniture design projects made between 1996 and 2006 in nine chapters, widely illustrated with plans and photographs.

The book is already in display in selected bookstores in Spain is available through the firm's website and and will be soon on the principal online book shops.

A-cero designs a new building for Dubai Waterfront

A new design from A-cero in the Dubai Waterfront (taken from Archinect):

Quote:
The architecture studio A-cero, directed by Joaquin Torres, presents a new project for a residential tower in Dubai’s Madinat Al Arab district, a sector designated to become the new downtown and business district of this vibrant city. The new 20 floor tower is located on the coastline, in a zone called Dubai Waterfront, in front of the bigger of the famous artificial islands known as The Palms, that have been created on the emirates’ coast...

The building is made of concrete, glass and steel, and have the broken aspect of surrounding desert’s crystals, like the one known as the desert rose; a sculptural idea taken as starting point for the design, something common to all the firm’s works.

The project’s program includes two underground parking floors, a commercial centre occupying the atrium and 18 floors reserved to residential use: 10 duplex, two of them with a surface of 500 m2, and 96 apartments with distributions of one, two and three bedrooms. All the apartments have terraces with spectacular views over the coast and share common zones with gym, solarium, swimming pool and leisure areas.
