Posting Tips - Please Read : Inc. HowTo post images, embed youtube, dailymotion

Hello everyone... I just thought I'd list down some posting guidelines to familiarize some of our newer users to the format of this sub-forum.

The goal is to make the forum look more professional and tidy without me having to edit everything.

Project Threads

- In the thread title state the city the project is located within box commas, then the project name, height and finally status (if known/applicable)
i.e. [Tehran] Milad Tower | 435m | U/C

- Post any relevant images of the project included renders and construction pics (if there are any)

- Proposed projects with next to no or little information are recommended to be posted in the Proposed Projects for Iran thread.

- State the source of the project information

Picture Threads:

- Keep mass posts of pics to a maximum of 15 pics per post... Much more than this can lag up threads especially for forumers who have slower network connections.

- Resize images to a sensible resolution so they may be viewed more readily by others.

- Do not open picture threads that only has a link and no pictures on it, it defeats the purpose of a photo forum and the thread will be deleted (especially if the posted link has died).

- Please do not post pics that are hosted on servers that do not allow hotlinking as we will only see a blank image stating they do not allow this practice.

- In addition to the above point, please do not post pics that are hosted on servers who remove/change the hosted images frequently i.e. fars news photos. To combat this host the images on a dedicated image hosting site i.e. www.tinypic.com (have to save the images first then upload) or www.imageshack.us (will upload from another host simply by entering the url of the pic u want hosting)

- State the source of the photos & give credit to the photographer if known i.e. TrekEarth/Webshots/Worldisround users.

Posting Pictures HowTo

- To post images in a thread first one must host the image on a host, typically www.tinypic.com is good for uploading images from ones hard drive and www.imageshack.us for hosting images off of other websites i.e. trekearth.

- Secondly once the image is hosted take the target url of the image (www...com/image.jpg) and wrap it with the [IMG][/IMG] code. So it'l look something like [IMG]imagurl[/IMG]

Posting Embedded Youtube Videos

- To embed a Youtube video one takes the video code from the youtube url, this is everything after 'v=' in the url, for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9oIZpFFyIY

- The video code: y9oIZpFFyIY similarly to posting images is placed between the youtube VB code: [YOUTUBE][/YOUTUBE]

News Articles

- Always bold the title of articles (larger font is also good)

- Please post entire articles as vital information can be missed... If the article is particularly long or becomes wildly off-topic halfway through, make sure to include all relevant information, cut it short and state the article is continued along side the source.

- Always state the source of the articles

N.B. These guidelines walk hand-in-hand with the forum rules

____________________________

Right this is all I can think of for now, I know most of these guidelines are already in practice by some of you... I'd like to thank everyone for their hard work on the forum, the place is looking lively, I'm sure we all want it to stay like this (if not better). Lets keep up the hard work

New Codes

The administrators have added a couple of new codes to embed items onto the forum. Google Map code temporarily disabled*

Another new code is for Vimeo, similar to the youtube code: [vimeo]value[/vimeo]

example: [vimeo]5420081[/vimeo]
