The church isnt going anywhere. It has been on that corner for over 100 years and has long term plans to stay there. The church had an agreement with the previous developement plan to have a basement connection to the underground garage.
As far as I know, Yuen Lui property isnt owned by the developer, yet............ |

The developer doesn't own the Yuen Lui studio site yet but it looks like they have plans to eventually acquire it. In one of the images there is a residential tower on the studio's location.

Today's DJC has an article about this project. I'll try to get my hands on a copy and get the full scoop. For now, here's the summary on the main page:
32-story tower for Bellevue Boston-based Beacon Capital Partners is moving forward with the design of a 32-story office tower at 10833 N.E. Eighth St. in Bellevue. The tower, which is being designed by Ruffcorn Mott Hinthorne Stine, would have 690,000 square feet. There will be 9,000 square feet of retail, 1,766 underground parking stalls and a landscaped plaza. |

This 1,766 parking count makes me want to move out of the country or something. I thought 600 stalls for the 42 story+ WaMu-SAM was quite a bit but probably reasonable. Someone (probably Kemper) better start campaigning for another expansion of I-405. 1,766 parking stalls seems ridiculous unless maybe it's also parking for another convention center next door or something.

I was thinking the same thing. Even the mayor of Bellevue is in favor of light rail coming east. But who needs it when building design is so accomodating to the driving work force.

The full article had very little info, no confirmed start date. It only mentioned that they are almost done with design review. If I had to guess, I'd say 1st quarter of 2009 for groundbreaking but that's not really based off anything.

Soooo disappointed. Only 9k of retail?? It's directly beside the Bravern! It would've made a great retail transition zone between Bellevue Square, (future) Washington Square retail, and the Bravern. Now we'll just have this big empty plaza black hole thing to walk through. ugh
edit: I also second a spired tower for Bellevue!! Let's steal this failed project in Nashville.

How about we just steal these from Philadelphia?
They would go perfectly in Bellevue! |

Hope they keep that old church there. It is the closest thing Bellevue has to history.
We need a spired building in Bellevue. The whole northwest lacks spired buildings. |

It will be kind of odd to see a towering skyscraper, and a nice old church beside it. I'm glad though it is staying for sure.
Thank you.

Starting a thread on this, too. If someone's already started one, let me know and I'll merge 'em.
