British Airways check-in services at Hong Kong International Airport are located at Aisle J.



British Airways Business Class was a remarkable concept. Named ‘Club World’, it achieved a whopping 9.0 marks some time earlier at skytrax.com, sharing the highest mark with Singapore Airlines New Business Class.



British Airways and Qantas Airways share the Hong Kong Lounge. Situated in Departures Level 7, it covers an area of 2-3 boarding gates, along the Northeast Pier of Hong Kong International Airport.
One World cardholders with Emerald or Sapphire status are welcome to use this lounge.



Food variety in the lounge was rather limited and was weaker than similar-type lounge Air France’s lounge by a fraction. Although there was a coffee-making machine that would have easily cost tens of thousands, not many Caucasians showed interest. However, service was impeccable and the stewardesses were constantly taking full attention and care on you.



Despite a final call, I have to get myself a photo of the bird! On that night gate 15, 16 and 17 were all occupied by Speedbirds. A true evidence of the presence of British Airways in the Hong Kong-London night market.







Club World Logo Light





Due to an electrical supply error, my pair of seats didn’t have electrical power till the last moment before fasten seatbelts, when the problem was solved by excellent skillful HAECO engineers. That delayed the illumination of my favourite recline gadgets.





Due to the fact that it’s a bulkhead seat, the seat pitch was really long, I give an estimation of at least 7 feet.







Suddenly a gigantic Speedbird 747 looms into gate 16. BA28 is the last passenger departure for the whole day. I personally prefer BA28 the most because of her lightest load.

Toiletries and cosmetics were provided by famous brand Elemis. There were many different types of these. Club World cabin on this configuration of Boeing 747 have six lavatories, with a lavatory:passenger ratio of 1: 11.67 at most, which is even less than First class which has a ratio of 1:14.



Although the Club World fully-flat bed is apparently narrower compared to competitor Singapore Airlines, the longer length of it (by more than 20 inches in seat pitch) compromises the utmost comfort in sleep to customers. However, as these photos were being taken Hong Kong local time had already reached 2 am. BA is quite slow in meal service and it takes up precious sleeping time, especially for transatlantic routes, where time is scarce.





One of the largest amenities for Club World onboard is the heavily-promoted Club Kitchen. The choices at the freestyle counter was quite limited, but there was still much more to choose compared to Economy class World Traveller. Different types of F&B options, e.g. water, soft drinks, beer and wine as well as cakes and organic chocolate were available.

As the bird touched down early, it wasn’t even 5 a.m. when we were finally off. However, the worst part of T5 immediately follows. We, the F class pax, the Y class pax and the whole bunch of people on BA32 had arrived at the same moment and was forced to squeeze in a two-carriage automated people mover to Terminal 5A. Where’s my dignity??







Without an HK passport and bags to check in, we were in British Soil 15 minutes after de-boarding. Terminal 5 is simply big, huge, large, oversized, impressive. And it is also the only international-class terminal in the world to have no road access perhaps – it is impressive enough to be connected to a 6-story tall transport building. Let’s go downwards to underground.
