Should the THCEA remain intact?
With the latest controversy regarding the Tampa-Hillsborough Expressway Authority, (see the Crosstown thread for the article) I wanted input from other fourmers on whether or not the THCEA should remain intact, or should be obliterated and its operations shoved into either the FL Turnpike Enterprise or TBARTA.
Bottom line, there is still too much corruption within the agency, even after the departure of Pat McCue and Ralph Mervine. What do you think?

My personal opinion about the THCEA is this. I believe it should be dissolved into the Turnpike Enterprise. However, it is a double edged sword situation. Keep the THCEA intact and lots of reconstruction and decorruption must be done. But get rid of it and the toll revenues leave Hillsborough County. I have mixed feelings about dissolving the THCEA into TBARTA because that agency is so new and is supposed to deal with transit, not the toll roads.

Wslupecki
, our Tampa Bay friend, Don't trust the Florida Turnpike people , reason , why does it take them so long to start a project, that needed done and completed 20 years ago, Many projects under construction in Orlando's I-4 and 441 interchanges being widen to 8 lanes on the Turnpike should have been completed 20 years ago , All the tolls being taken since Disney World opened over 35 years ago, could have funded and completed these overcost construction projects of today 20 YEARS AGO at a lower costs. Now I ask you , I going to Disney World about 35 times driving From MIAMI to ORLANDO and paying over $ 13.00 in Florida Turnpike tolls with millions of other Miami residents loving to go and went to Disney World over these 35 years. WHERE did our money go and Why Now all these under construction projects jamming up the Turnpike, and They finally after thousands of accident deaths of crossing over the median into on coming traffic NO guide rails between Ft. Peirce and Kissiimmee/st cloud exits, They finally Now after over 40 years of the opened Florida Turnpike, They finally put in a Cheap Guiderails in the area of the same number of lanes and same length of Median to protect the NOW drivers that lost thousands of love ones because the Florida Turnpike people were too cheap to put in the Guiderails over 40 years ago .I say all the Authorities are Corrupted sooner or later. " IMO !!! "It's greed and the agency personnel want your money for better homes and more vaction time and money.

![]() That's a good point. Like I said, this is a double edged sword type of situation. There are more drawbacks than advantages to any of these choices that it is hard to even think about what should happen to the THCEA.

Yes, they could create more roads inbetween counties, since we seem to have an issue with inter county relations (BBD in Pasco/HCO) And it would perhaps allow for new roads to be built, like the E/W Toll Way, and an Eastern HCO Tollway maybe.

True. Actually, I think that is a pretty good point.
