The more matches I see with the new stand the more I like it. Sure, if you go purely with esthetics it would have looked more whole and "together" with 4 similar stands, but as Parken felt they had to improve on the facilities the old stand had (which was justified) and get some more boxes since Parken didn't have many before, I really feel they did a good job. The stand ads something extra to the stadium - a hint of carisma.

It reminds me of a modern version of the "box-stand" at some South American stadiums such as Boca Juniors.

All in all I like it - and I think it's a great "british" style stadium, with 4 seperate stands right by the pitch and then a few features which stands out. Doesn't suit the national team (who should lobby to get a new national stadium built in Ørestaden), but it's great for FCK in my opinion.

Almost completely, used to be an allright stadium. I never like it when a stand like this is put behind the goals. Boxes behind a goal always looks like a very stupid mistake. Only the stadium in Vallodalid is nice that way and then also only because it's surprising.

The thread title is wrong. Parken has a capacity of 38,065.

Yes the correct capacity is 38.065, the old capacity was a estimate made during the construction of the new stand.

Also confirmed by the danish FA

There is a rumour that the planned Argentina v England friendly game on the 9th February 2011 will take place at this venue. Has anyone on here heard anything about this?

The new stand is nice it's like a bigger version of the clock end at the old Highbury.

When do they have the roof closed?

At Amsterdam ArenA, the roof is always closed during non-sports events.

It depends on the situation-closed for 42 days in period june-dec 2009 for 33 events of which 13 were none sporting.

However roof at parken is not closed for sport(football) because due to the design of retractable roof two safety columns have to be erected to add extra support to the roof and these columns are in prime location near half way line in the seating areas. Which firstly blocks views of hundreds of prime seats and second there are safety issues.

If seen one match at Parken some years ago where they used to roof. It was FCK-Panatinaikos in the UEFA Cup. I guess it was raining a lot that day.

Yes they were saying that it was because of the weather but Tiësto performed 2 days after so i´m guessing that it was the main reason.

The roof was also on at the Superliga game against FC Nordsjælland in this spring because of the X Factor Final, some of the stage lightning was already placed under the roof.

Yes its true roof has been closed for a handful of football events but this is down to circumstance and none of the management or officials like closing the roof (football) for the reasons i mentioned.

I have been there a few times, maybe 15-20 times, even that I am not a fan of FCK, but of Juventus

Overall a nice stadium with a good atmosphere, but not a top class stadium. Because there is to much concrete in this stadium, especially I don´t like the corners. The concrete in the corners kills some of the atmosphere...even that it´s still a good stadium. But I have seen better ones. Personally I like more the other stadium of Copenhagen, the stadium of Brøndby which is more intime...(and no, it´s not because I am a Brøndby-fan, because I only support Juve )

Because FCK and Don Ø, the former boss of FC Copenhagen, only care about money. Even that on the other hand I understand them, since Parken Sport and Entertainment, the company that owns FC Copenhagen, has had a few financial problems

But I agree with you, the old stand looked a lot better, even that back stage it was quite horrible and needed to be retouched.

Denmarks national team deserves a better stadium than this, a stadium with more atmosphere. I hope that one day they will build a bigger stadium in the Ørestad (at Amager) with a 50.000 capacity. Parken is getting to small now where it only has 37-38.000 seats. It used to have 42.000 and in the eighties the capacity was almost 50.000, before the restructuration

Couldn't agree more. But I think the chances of a new stadium in Copenhagen is pretty small. Is there any room in Ørestad left, now when the new arena (hopefully) is coming? I don't see any other alternatives on Amager. Maybe in Nordhavn?

I can't find any..

But here you can see how it lokked like last time they played there http://www.dr.dk/Sporten/Haandbold/2...0420112341.htm

This time though, it will be a different setup, because the court will be placed in the other direction, in one of the ends.
