Wow, I never even saw this one coming. Keep the supertalls coming. We'll easily have well over a dozen standing in a few years. And this design is very sleek; it will go great with that area because a lot of newer skyscrapers are going up there. I say this one looks like around 1,200 to the roof.

Looks great. Kind of a different design for Manhattan, though.

Situated in the heart of Manhattans newest neighborhood, the dynamic Hudson Yards District, 3 Hudson Boulevard, "The GiraSole" will be a gateway for the West Side and an icon of green architecture for the 21st Century. From its sky gardens to the reaches of the new Hudson Boulevard Park, this new 1.6 million square foot tower will be surrounded by green. Soaring to a height of over a thousand feet, it will offer unparalleled views south and west over Hudson River Park, the High Line and the new park and development of the Hudson Rail Yards. A solar power-generating tower, "The GiraSole" will set a new standard for mixed use development by uniting premium corporate offices and the most exclusive residences with the state of the art in environmentally sustainable design. The project is on track for LEED Platinum certification.

I'm not surprised really. We have the chance to get something really cool considering it's in our new planned cbd but no, we get another glass box with shiny blue lights AGAIN. It looks like wt7, a bit, but taller. That second building (or neighbor) looks like one of the wtc towers. I'm disappointed...

This new Midtown west site will be bigger in terms of square footage, density and the proposed roof heights... than the WTC site. There is still a ninth ave. tower that has yet to be announced along with the MSG towers and hotel penn tower. Isn't there also a Javitz hotel tower?? I'm really losing track of these developments.

Yeah that proposed Javits Center hotel tower has 90 floors, but they might pick another plan that has two or three 600' towers.
NY definitely isn't behind anyone.

Maybe someone could use photoshop and put both of the towers into one picture. I'm bad at it.

I walked by the site on 31 Oct. 07 and was surprised to see that excavation of this huge plot is not only active but is very well advanced. Also, directly across 34th St from this project on the south side of 34th and 11th is the site where Extell's Medical Product Center HQ will rise. Extell likely will build a great tower.

It has a sly little twist in the design. I love it because it's really subtle. No Twizzlers here, please.

Here's an article re: Extell's building that will rise across the street from this one:

COPA SITE'S NEW IDENTITY

FORMER NIGHTCLUB TO BE A CUTTING-EDGE MEDICAL SHOWROOM

August 1, 2007 -- THE former Copacabana site at the southeast corner of 34th Street and Eleventh Avenue is morphing into an approximately 1.5 million-square-foot skyscraper that could become the home of the World Product Centre, a showroom that will feature the latest in high-tech medical equipment.

WPC is the brainchild of Israel Green, who has just signed a letter of intent with Gary Barnett for a "full 1 million square feet," which will be about 70 percent of this new Extell Development project.

The 45- to 50-story building is being designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox with WPC innards by FXFowle Architects.

Green is still evaluating the costs of environmentally friendly construction but laughed, "It will make me happier because my name is Green."

Already, Green has $100 million from Hewlett-Packard to install the latest devices into what will become a sales and educational center for diagnostics, equipment and supporting systems tied to the medical field.

John Powers of CB Richard Ellis worked with Green on finding a location but didn't return a call for comment.

The WPC Web site has to be updated. It still shows the FXFowle-designed SJP Properties office tower at 11 Times Square as its future home.

Green explained that L-shaped building didn't work for his needs. The new one would be ready in 2012.

I'm already feeling this supertall. It's like an upgraded 4WTC, the underrated Maki tower.

New York's time to shine at the top again will be here soon.

That's most likely a little better than anything I could do! NY is looking good, and that doesn't even include the possible MSG project and many other planned supertalls!
