I agree, though that's 20 years down the road.

Would be awsome if anyone could shop in the Manhattan West double towers in that picture too!

Someone needs to 'shop in the completed One57 (or find a new pic with One57), McDs, Sherwood, 360 10th, 450 Hudson, and Extell's tower at 217 West 57th Street.

New York, ladies and gentlemen.

My oh my.

I might be on the city council then, Robert!

BTW, I saw where you said NYC will never have the tallest building in the world again. While I tend to agree it doesn't make economic sense, I would never say never!

Thank you!

I firmly believe NYC is THE CITY and I love it will all my heart. I believe as the international community continues to see a rise in their purchasing power, we will continue to see the level of development we are currently seeing in NYC! Everyone across the world knows NYC!

It definitely will not. Most New Yorkers oppose very tall towers.

I hope that when you're on the city council, you sponsor laws advocating completely nude female sunbathing.

That is true, but they can't do anything when it's as-of-right, no?

A tremendous idea! I suggest you run next cycle and propose that! It would jive with soon-to-be-former mayor (sadly) Bloomberg's waterfront initiative!

To me, it looks more like the tower simply starts off as a square, and the distance between 2 opposite corners simply decreases as you go higher. It's like a square with the distance between the top left and bottom right corners shrinking until you get a diamond. That would explain why some façades look flat and others appear curved.

The corners never go in they slide along the north and south faces. I never got it till I looked at this pic.

Thanks a lot for that diagram! That's what I was trying to say, though I didn't realize the base was rectangular. Sweet design.

I was thinking that maybe a new MSG and Javits center can be combined somehow on the Hudson pier over the water right at the same place as all this development. Just a thought

Sadly it is not NYC decision. As long as the height limit is 2000ft set by FAA is around - it is not only economically challenging, it is also against the rules. So it is FAA that you have to start working for and maybe one day you will change their rules.

Don't worry, by then JFK, EWR and LGA will all be combined into a new offshore island mega-airport far enough away from Manhattan airspace that the FAA will have no logical reason not to cede to real estate lobby pressures and make an exception for the entire island. YAY for the supreme level of public infrastructure innovation and development in the US, lol. Manhattan still has a chance, don't give up yet
