I just noticed 15 HY is above ground now. That's FOUR supertalls and FOUR skyscrapers - EIGHT towers above 200m - under construction at the same time in the same area.

key thing is start construction. They seem like they are going only do up to street level without an anchor. So that give us several months for them to find one.

True, we don't want another 3 or 2WTC story here.

Moinian's Hudson Yards Supertall May Already Be In Trouble

The developer needs to reapply for tax benefits for the project
http://ny.curbed.com/2016/5/13/11668...efits-jeapordy

Quote:
Joseph Moinian, the head of the development firm, had secured close to $65 million in tax benefits from the New York City Industrial Development Agency (IDA) on the grounds that the development team would secure a full construction loan and an anchor tenant exactly one year from February 10, 2015.

Having failed to meet the deadline, the Moinian Group now has to reapply for the benefits with the IDA, but it remains to be seen whether the agency will provide the tax exemption without an anchor tenant or secure financing.
Not sure if this rendering was posted yet:

ya, not sure how a multi-billion dollar development would hinge on a 50 million dollar tax break.

Ya I hope this is curbed clickbaiting more than it being a credible piece of news.

Excavation Underway at 3 Hudson Boulevard in Manhattan
Quote:
Soon to become part of the rapidly rising Hudson Yards neighbourhood on the western edge of Midtown Manhattan, 3 Hudson Boulevard at the corner of 34th Street and 11th Avenue will eventually rise to 315 metres. The supertall, mixed-use, 66-storey tower will house a mixture of office and residential space across its 1.8 million square feet. Designed by FXFOWLE for the Moinian Group, 3 Hudson Boulevard will rise above the recently completed 34th Street-Hudson Yards Subway Station that was primarily built to serve the new Hudson Yards neighbourhood.

Most or all cities having super- and megatalls build to boast. They lack what NYC has; an "organically" growing skyline which CONSTITUTES its traditional urban landscape; one which carries the weight of the whole worlds highrise heritage on its shoulders.

NYC still focuses on developing that further in the same organic manner as always (but should be careful not to erase too much of its historic highrise architecture not to reduce its unique architectural and historical value). NYC is also still driving highrise invention, now the super-thins.

The day NYC actually comes around to build a megatall, it will be because the skyline has gotten ready for its proportions and, as always, no city´s skyline will be able to compare.

Whatever the steel shed structure is, this is getting closer to actual development.
