We're a mid-size city now, eh? That's the illusion that people get when they see n.y but actually many buildings are taller than those in many cities. It's just that when you have too many of the same tall buildngs cluttered together, none stand out! Again, I hope the new projects on the far west side have more interesting designs than this one...

don't think the designs will be more interesting. in NY counts the space, and to get much space you need a boxy tower

Yeah, the people saying that kind of stuff obviously have never been to New York City, and also seem to be forgetting the destruction of 2 of the city's super talls. This project is impressive, but after the virtual cancellation of the MSG towers I'm a bit reticent about getting excited over this, but hopefully it will go ahead. The glass box is getting a bit ubiquitous, but done competently, and given a sufficiently monumental site (as this has- few neighbours of similar hight) they have a great elegance.

I agree. Chicago is an example. Most buildings in its skyline are 500 feet tall and less. Most in NY's are between 600 and 750.

It's not very original and it's not that kind you building you look and say:"Wow,that's f****ng impressive!",but still good anyway.NYC is definitely building tall again, now it's time to build
buildings.
