Yeah but in NY sometimes in the summer it can be over 90 to even over 100 degrees and wind sometimes makes it worse, and in winter it can be very cold too.

Whether this building or any other may dominate the ESB all depends on where your looking from...its all a perspective thing....see!

Yeah. But it's nice to have a good view were ESB dominates. Obviously from some angles it gets dominated but its good to have uninterupted views of ESB. The Girasole will dominate a view from an angle that was once dominated by the ESB for years.

It still dominates from most angles. It's not only the height, but the width. Many towers get thinner towards the top, but up until the spire the ESB is still incredibly wide. While only 200 feet shorter, the Chrysler Building doesn't have nearly as much of a profound effect on the skyline because it is narrow in comparison.

I was there one summer when it was like 102 air temperature and with the humidity, it felt like 111!!

give it a rest. the ESB has "dominated" for almost 80 years, move on.

Few buildings in the world rival the ESB. No matter how many times people say "height is not everything," most people take it as the only indicator of beauty.

And the ESB will still dominate. It all depends from what angle you are looking at it from.

the ESB will first no longer dominate the skyline until the tower is framed by supertalls

No matter what is built around ESB, ESB will still be the ultimate skyscraper. It's one of the most famous buildings on earth and 9 times out of 10, when you ask people what's the first building you think of when you say the word 'skyscraper' they will say Empire State Building.

But no matter how important ESB is, you can't expect nothing tall to be built around it forever.
