Alpine road Liariis - Monte Zoncolan (Friuli - Venezia Giulia, Italy)

https://maps.google.it/maps?saddr=St...p=1&sz=16&z=14
This alpine road is one of the steepest roads in Europe and one of the most difficult stretches ever included in the Giro d'Italia. It climbs 1200 meters in 11km. It reaches the altitude of 1750m.

The top, where a ski resort is located, can be reached more easily from Sutrio via the SP123 that is a normal 2-lanes road.

"Benvignuts"? Local dialect or, for some reason, Catalan (slightly misspelled, I think)?

Friulan. Officially regional language (for political reasons) but de facto dialect spoken in most of the provinces of Udine and Pordenone and in some border areas in the provinces of Gorizia and Venice. Linguistically is someway related with Ladin (spoken in some areas of Trentino - Alto Adige and northern Veneto) and Romansch (spoken in some areas in Switzerland).

I've heard of it. But if you switch the G and the N you get the Catalan spelling, so at first I read it as Catalan and said, "why there"?

Du Toitskloof Pass, 65km ENE of Cape Town, South Africa

R101 (old pass - avoiding the Huguenot Tunnel), with Du Toits Peak in the background

Where R101 meets the N1 (Huguenot Tunnel eastern portal):

N1 entering Du Toitskloof Pass from the NE (Worcester side)

N1 freeway through the pass, 8km from the Huguenot Tunnel

Yup, you are right. I thought that particular section did not look familiar. I'll change it. Thanks for the heads up.

This picture shows the climb to Stelvio pass, not Zoncolan.
