A tower by Richard Rogers was planned to rise there before the economy collapsed.

Yea i saw that proposal, but i didn't like it. I mean, they could give it a paint job on the truss girders, make it look vibrant vs utilitarian. It's actually not too bad inside (even on on the gate levels), it's the dull blue exterior, with that oft-malfunctioning LED display on the corner that irks me. How about put a wallgreens style LED display set over multi-color truss girders.

Also speaking of LED & such, when is this jimmy getting its obligatory times square "bling"?

Though everybody says the NY Times tower looks better in person, it really looks horrible on photos. Look at it in this picture. Looks like it is already 20 years old.

Four towers by de Portzamparc will rise there soon. (Not counting the two on 57th Street or the one on Park Ave. This will result in seven towers by de Portzamparc rising soon.)
interesting, thx for the information. seems to me that portzamparc is going to leave some marks (--> skyscrapers ) in the city! can you name all the 7 towers with the exact adresses and height, if given (expect the one on 157w. 57th str.)?

4. Also, four will be built in the Riverside South development on the Upper West Side. They can be seen on de Portzamparc's website.

He also designed the US HQ for LVMH on East 57th near Park.
very well, thx. can't wait till they all rise, especially 157 W 57th St.!

don't be so harsh with HK. i think we have great buildings, only NYC can compete with our skyline & architecture.

What do you mean? Hong Kong has a wonderful collection of modern skyscrapers. The only thing Hong Kong lacks is the art deco skyscrapers.
For that matter, what is past is past. What Hong Kong is doing is fine at this age.
