SSC signed a contract with Alpine Slovakia for construction of 150 km of first class roads in Nitra and Trnava county.

It seems that the word "re-construction" or "rehabilitation" would be more appropriate.

Well they are going to repave and update these roads, I just found a map with marked roads witch are going to be rebuild in next 2 years (makes up 600 km of new roads) -



And I also find pictures which show how D1 Turany - Hubová will run through the valley of Váh -

last and biggest tender of current SK government was announced today:

D1 Lietavska Lucka - Dubna Skala (southeast of Zilina, between roads I/64 and I/18), 13,5km long with 7,5km tunnel Visnove. Estimated price is 897 mil € and construction time 66 months. Offers will be evaluated in 05/2012 (after general elections, that will be held on 10th March 2012).

It was part of "3rd PPP package", that was canceled in autumn 2010 because PPP concessionaire was unable to get money for this expensive project.

Yeah I guess it will be one of the most stunning sections on D1 because it usually runs just through the large basins, and I guess it will be the first Slovak motorway which will run under a ski slope (last pic).

What a shame that it will spoil this lake in Rieka -

And another question: how much it is expected to cost whole remaining D1 between Žilina and Ružomberok? Will be all built 2x2 in first place or will some sections (long tunnels) be only 1x2

You mean it's going to run directly over this lake without any tunnel ?

And no problems with ecologists ? It appears this section of the D1 will run near 2 national parks: Narodný park Veľká Fatra and Narodný park Malá Fatra ...

All sections will be build in 2x2. I don't know how much will cost motorway from Hríčovské Podhradie (where D1 and D3 meets) to Žilina, there is no need to build it in next few years as they have a good ring road in Žilina with feeder to Lietavská Lúčka where section LL - Dubná skala (tunnel Višňové) starts, this section goes to tender and estimated costs are between 700 - 900 m €. 16 km long bypass of Martin and Vrútky is already under construction and it will cost 137 m €. One of the most complicated setions which is Turany - Hubová have estimated costs about 500 m €, which is pretty much same as if they built tunnel Korbeľka there. Hubová - Ivachnová (bypass of Ružomberok) is more or less same.

So in total it makes up about 2 billion € without Hríčovské Podhradie - Lietavska Lúčka which may add another 4/500 m €..

It is going to run above the lake on the hill side. Yes there were problems with this section because of some small natural reserve near Rojkov, its pretty much on the border of both national parks so they also wanted motorway just in one long tunnel.

New information from NDS.
Construction start in 2012:
D1 Lietavská Lúčka - Višňové 5,400 km
D1 Višňové - Dubná Skala 8,110 km
D1 Hubová - Ivachnová 15,250 km
D1 Jánovce - Jablonov II. part 9,541 km

R2 Ruskovce - Pravotice (2x1) 10,750 km
R2 Žiar nad Hronom - bypass 6,594 km
R2 Zvolen, východ - Pstruša 7,980 km
R2 Pstruša - Kriváň 10,100 km

R3 Tvrdošín - Nižná (2x1) 5,200 km
R3 Dlhá nad Oravou - Sedliacka Dubová (2x1) 4,900 km

Together 62,975 km of 2x2 motorways and expressways and 20,85 km of 2x1 expressways.

The D1 sections contain 8 km long tunnel south-east of Žilina, bypass of Ružomberok and Levoča. R2 contains bypass of Bánovce nad Bebravou (east of Trenčín), bypass of Žiar nad Hronom (west of Zvolen) and two sections east of Zvolen.

Completed in 2012:
D1 Jablonov - Studenec (2x1) 5,210 km (this is an addition to already built 2x1 stretch which means this section will be this year 2x2)

R1 Banská Bystrica northern bypass 5,7 km

Together 5,7 km 2x2 expressways 5,21 km 2x1 motorways (quite pathetic ).

Under construction in 2012:
D1 Dubná Skala - Turany 16,450 km
D1 Jánovce - Jablonov I. part 9,000 km
D1 Fričovce - Svinia 11,217 km

R4 Košice - Milhosť 14,190 km

Together 50,857 km of 2x2 motorways and expressways.

These sections will be completed after 2012, but are already U/C.

Yes, I've forgot this one, PPP projects aren't included in NDS' list. So this year there would be completed unbelievable 10,91 km.

There are several sections which are prepared for construction, and there are even some spare money for it, but it seems construction of any section won't start before 2014. There were some rumours construction of the last section before the PL border (Svrčinovec - Skalité) will start this year (it is almost completely prepared), but it very probably won't.
