You can buy Slovak vignette on-line here: http://www.dialnicnenalepky.sk/TypyNalepiek.aspx

There are three problems though. The site is in Slovak only, you have to pay for its delivery (to Romania it's 2.80 €) and you can buy only a year vignette from abroad (no 10 days and 1 month). So it's pretty much useless, I would say.

Hello! One question (that I asked also on the other 2 threads), what is the best way to reach the Tripoint between Slovakia, Austria and Hungary? I will be driving from Hungary. Can you drive till there, is there a parking?

Thanks!

It's forbidden now to drive there from .sk side, on foot it's like 2.5km walk I guess. I was there from .at side last year, and was pretty fine, last meters on mudd road, but still ok, now I don't remember if there was "Closed to all vehicles" sign, but if yes it was 100% with comment "Anrainer ausgenommen" which is in Austria ignored by everyone on this kind of road from .hu side... well, no idea, never tried, gmaps says there is some field road from Rajka... it also looks good from highway border pass, but I guess it will be forbidden as well (even streetview car gave it a try )

The field road from Rajka is another option (from Hungarian side) - the only trouble is to pass through M15 motorway (there is junction "Rajka"). However as mentioned, it is not so far away - to walk -from former SK-HU border crossing Rusovce-Rajka. There is motorway crossing and national road crossing. If the weather is o.k, it is definitely nice walk there.....

I'm actually planing to stop over night in Bratislava, so visiting the tripoint would not be such a big detour.

So I can leave the car in the parking place and walk there. On the motorway or the national road crossing?
It's not that big of a distance http://goo.gl/maps/GtcrC

I only wandered where the parking is, and how can I cross the motorway on foot. Or maybe turn after the border and stop on the other side.

Well, I suppose (motorway crossing as well as national road crossing) both options would be viable for you. You see there is bridge over the motorway between former SK and HU checkpoints. This is important.

You stop at SK motorway crossing (there is parking place - for trucks) or I could recommend the older national road crossing. Anyway, the older crossing (buildings) are in bad conditions. You need to cross the railroad first and after that the above mentioned bridge over the motorway (M15/D2). If you continue to Bratislava and travel via that national road no need to purchase the SK motorway label....There are no large parking places at older (national road) crossing but it is possible without any troubles to stop and park on Hungarian as well as SK side of the frontier.....

What about http://goo.gl/maps/vddl0 and leave the car where the asphalt ends?
Is this the bridge over the motorway you mentioned? It seems to be car only.

What about driving from Krakow to Kosice? Must not be the fastest, but also maybe picturesque, but not heavy damaged road.

Goole Maps gives me these two options:
1. http://goo.gl/maps/XHLju
2. http://goo.gl/maps/utaeL

But I was also thinking about one of these:
3. http://goo.gl/maps/ilqbY
4. http://goo.gl/maps/NF1OX - using Polish road 960, here Google Maps seems to have problems routing

I recommend you to go just like this:

https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=K...0&via=1,2&z=10

It´s definitely the fastest route. Maybe you will see some parts of the road endless, but the road is narrow and damaged.

Yes, you are right. That is the bridge I mentioned....I do not know only if the access by car is permitted?

The favourite route Krakow-Kosice. IMO:

Krakow - "Zakopianka" (road 7.pl) - road No.47 - Nowy Targ - Bialy Dunajec - Poronin (opportunity to visit Zakopane shortly...) - Bukowina Tatrzanska - road No.49 - Lysa Polana (PL/SK) - national road No.67 - Tatranska Javorina (sure the crossing Jurgow would be the option however this part of Tatras mountains are so beautiful...) - Tatranska Kotlina - national road No.537 - Tatranska Lomnica - Stary SMokovec - road No.534 - Poprad...and the motorway D1 or national road No.18....

Thanks for the answer
So Łysa Polana - Tatranská Javorina is the more beautiful road?
Through SK I was imagining the exact route you wrote .

Well, I see. IMO, the frontier section Lysa Polana - Tatranska Jarovina provides really attracting Tatras natural sceneries (mountains peaks, forests...).

cinxxx -> from slovakia it is prohibited to go there by car. there is a viaduct over the highway just behind the border where the barrier is. but if you are coming from hungary, take the old route from mosonmagyarovar through bezenye and rajka. not the highway. in rajka, you will pass the railway station on the left side and behind the railway station there is a turn to the left. i can't recall but i guess there is "deutsch jahrndorf" sign. simply tun left and once you cross the railways track turn left and go back to the railway station. this road will slowly turn right and will go above the motorway to slovakia. just behind the viaduct there is almost 180 u-turn right. so follow this road and you'll get on the very straight road to jahrndorf. after some kilometer or so you'll get on the hungarian-austrian border, there is a field road to the right. there is a peach orchard on the hungarian side. you can leave the car here and walk some 400 meters to the three-point. it's very nice place, very interesting with all those statues, with the very sad history... i'm from bratislava and during the summer and autumn i''m on my bicycle very often there. i like this region... anyhow, check google earth, i guess you'll easy find the road i described above.

i am originaly from sabinov, eastern slovakia and i know all the roads from krakow to kosice you are thinking about. easter slovakia is incredibly scenic country with breathtaking mountains, sceneries, views... i recommend you the route via tatranska javorina (high tatras), zdiar, down to poprad (well, nothing special about this city)))...) and then levoca (unesco, master pavol's altar, the highest in the world, wonderful center), spisske podhradie (the largest medieval castle in the central and eastern europe), presov (quite nice city, i was born there, cool center, great music clubs, pubs, bars). you can also take route either from tatranska javorina or spisska stara ves through stara lubova. you'll pas niedzica dam, czorstyn castle, three coronas (tri koruny) mountains, cerveny klastor with wonderfully preserved monastery, you can take some walk around poprad river (popular tourist place, sailing on the wooden boats in the gorges of poprad river. highly recommended in summer !!!), you might stop in stara lubovna (medieval and just reconstructed castle, nice town, too), sabinov (my town)))....). if you'll have a time, on the route between sabinov and presov you'll pass saris castle. it's the the castle built on the top of the ancient volcano, it's the trademark of saris region and torysa valley. there are some breathtaking views from the top of the hill !

So many nice places, so little time

So, I was then thinking on these routes:
1. http://goo.gl/maps/iqF0b + http://goo.gl/maps/74FD6
2. http://goo.gl/maps/6EE4s

Second one is much more quicker, but I would miss the road from Tatranská Javorina. Will have to find the best compromise to reach Kosice in reasonable time, but also to cover as much nice places as possible

One more thing, on the routes above, do I need the SK vignette?

I think I got it, it's this route http://goo.gl/maps/gktf9

The road further, in Zeiselhof seems also interesting, it looks to be exactly on the border.

ďakujem!

yes you need. If you want to avoid it, you can use this:

http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Ro...ia=1,2&t=m&z=9

or this route: http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Ro...ia=1,2&t=m&z=9

Old road between Presov and Kosice is very slow, I don't recomend it. Lipany-Presov is similar, but with even higher traffic. Moutain road between Spisska Nova Ves and Kosice is not that bad, but you will pass several poor gypsy villages...

lipany-presov is busy only in the morning hours, mostly when people go to work in presov. eitherwise it's normally busy. i am from there (sabinov), my grandparents are from lipany, i have half of my friends and family in presov so i can judge quite rationally this road. now, when they cut those old walnut trees between sabinov and lipany and with the bypass of lipany, the road is quite ok. i heard the rumors about the bypass of sabinov (starting in sarisske michalany and the other end will be somewhere where SANAS or ZTS is (if you know SB you might imagine this bypass)) but we have heard a lot of similar urban stories in the past, hahaha.....
