I booked the night at Penzion Mala, Pílová 3, 85110 Jarovce. It was very nice, I recommend it.
Driving to Bratislava from there was easy. I found a parking place here, it was ok for the 5 hours I stayed Saturday evening.
Weather was great, so I enjoyed the city, went to the UFO and bridge, castle, city center, presidential palace.

The next day I drove to Slavín Memorial, and parked here for free.

After that I drove to Devín, the parking next to the castle was free.

New horizontal signage on D1 in Bratislava

Before there were Gyor and Wien, now there are country codes. It looks a bit wired in case of Hungary and Austria though.

OK, this is actual photo:

Good news. The price tag is quite high for a half-profile motorway though. The current road runs nearly entirely through urbanized area. Lots of ribbon development in this valley.

price seems to be result of cartel agreement, but EU will finance this

Construction works on 600m tunnel Sibenik on D1 near Levoca have started recently. It's the only one u/c tunnel now, but several longer ones are "comming soon"

2012 toll revenue

I did some research on toll revenue in 2012.

The total toll revenue (vignettes + emyto-trucks) was € 206 million. Approximately 75% of that is paid by trucks, € 155.5 million. € 50.5 million was paid for by vignettes for passenger cars.

25% of the annual revenue of vignettes is generated by the sale of annual vignettes in January alone. Overall, 57% of the vignette toll revenue comes from the sale of annual vignettes, 35% from 10-day vignettes and the remainder from monthly vignettes.

The sale of annual vignettes naturally spikes in January and gradually diminishes after each month. Revenues from annual vignette sales drop below € 1 million per month after May. At the same time, the sales of monthly vignettes are substantially higher in the last six months of the year, probably because it replaces the market for annual vignettes by that time. Starting in September, the revenue of monthly vignettes exceeds that of annual vignettes.

Most 10-day vignettes are naturally sold in the summer months of July and August. Revenue is above € 1 million per month except for February. € 2.4 million worth of 10-day vignettes are sold in August.

A question: is there a high traffic between Vienna and Bratislava? How much time it cost the trip? And in money? (only considering tolls)

- Is there a lot of austrian tourism into Slovakia since the opening of the A-6 motorway? I think that a lot austrian people go to Slovakia to buy because is cheaper isn't?

To go by motorway, one needs both AT and SK vignettes and it takes nearly an hour. Alternatively, one can drive via B9 without vignettes and the shorter, slower road requires a bit more than an hour.

not so high traffic regarding the big size of wien and its importance. i'm travelling quite often to wien and back and the portion of highway from the border to parndorf is always almost empty. however, when you get to the highway connecting budapest and wien, traffic gets very busy, a lot of cars, trucks (mostly turkish, romanian and bulgarian trucks), people going to vienna airport, sometimes traffic jams. when the traffic is normal i can be from bratislava center in the center of wien in 45 minutes. toll... i don't know. my company cas has year vignette)))))

- no, there is almost zero austrians coming here. they still consider us as "eastern europe".... you can find some austrians coming here for ballet or opera but you hardly find austrians come here just for a beer or take a walk through the center. i don't know why they ignore it. well, cheap... it's not as cheap as one would think. many slovaks, even me sometimes, prefer to shop in the supermarkets in austria, also the fuel is cheaper. the schengen and no borders has helped more to the easier access to work rather than tourism. people take the open borders from more practical side - they buy houses in austria as it's cheaper than in bratislava, they work in wien which is very clovek and the salaries are far higher....

I was pleasantly surprised to see that. I wasn't expecting it, especially since both PL and UA are quite a distance from Bratislava.
