So, that`s the reason I/65 is almost empty! Cars go with I/519. Next time I have to try this detour

Official schedules say so, but I wouldn't count on it.

If there won't be any further delays it's possible. Sections Jánovce - Jablonov, II. and Fričovce - Svinia are scheduled to be completed in July 2015. However I wouldn't bet too much money on that. I think it's safe to say this autumn it will be possible to drive on continuous motorway from Ivachnová to Prešov západ (west), which is 123.812 km. There will be still 2x1 tunnel Branisko tough.

Bypass of Martin (Dubná Skala - Turany), 16.41 km, will be also completed this year although it was supposed to be finished in December 2014. Too bad we will have to wait till June 2017 for the next completed section of D1 - bypass of Ružomberok (Hubová - Ivachnová), 15.28 km.

Thank you for your comments. I though that this summer I will go through Slovakia (B-BB-Presov) on my way to Barwinek (PL/SK border) , but it seems that the road through Budapest - Kosice will be still better option.

I agree and I hope that D1 between Ružomberok and Prešov will be completed this year.

Jánovce - Jablonov I.: official says it won t be open before summer 2015. It is realistic.
Jánovce - Jablonov II.: rumours from www.dialnice.info says it will be delayed until autumn 2015
Fričovce - Svinia: again, rumours says it will be delayed until early 2016. There is one small viaduct near landslide area, that seems problematic

If you start your route in Bratislava, I don t recommend driving through Hungary, it will cost you more money (both vignette and gas) and more time.

Best route is through Banská Bystrica, but in BB turn to east and use road 66 to Podbrezová and then road 72 to D1

Government expertise says...
Building costs 1.325 billion for 59 km, which is roughly 22.4 millions per 1 km. That's ok (metropolitan area, new bridge over Danube, big interchanges, somewhere 3+3 lanes).

The problem is, the government plans a payment of 130-150 millions yearly for period of 30 years. And that's 3.9-4.5 billions all together, what is 3 times more than the building costs!!!

Those are financing cost + maintenance over a period of 30 years. Normally the government pays this, but it is more pronounced with a PPP project. However a factor 3 is a bit high, I'd say. Especially because this type of PPP project (availability payments) incurs very little risk to the investors.

I'm always reminded of the Skye Bridge when I think about PPP and the massive profits made at the expense of the person paying the tolls.

And how much do you think a maintenance can cost in a country, where minimum wage is 350 and average wage is 800 euros? There's no way the maintenance will cost more than few dozens millions a year.

A 30 year maintenance period usually includes at least one complete reconstruction of the pavement. It is usually agreed in the contract that the contractor turns the motorway over to the government after 30 years, in pristine condition.

Yes I know that too, still it can't be more than 2 times of the building costs... 3 times is nothing but a robbery.
