I know. Timon, looks like we're the only ones who use "×" instead of "x". :-) I get it by pressing "Alt Gr" and "Đ".

After construction photos some pictures of already built motorways may be suitable. These photos of the older sections of northern D1 are from www.ndsas.sk

This stretch (Ivachnová - Hybe) is actually an expressway (notice the narrow hard shoulder). It's the only case when a motorway has expressway parameters:

These photos are from section Hybe - Važec:

This stretch was constructed in 70ies as one of the first completed stretches in Slovakia, I think Bratislava-Malacky and Bratislava-Trnava sections had been completed before. My first idea was, that the norm in 70ies was not that strict, but the sections in the near of capital have wide emergency lane.

I add some evening and night shots from Sitina tunnel

The shoulder is no place to stop and make pictures.

Actually, photos from Sitina tunnel were taken during the control and testing day, when all traffic has been stopped. Several days a year such control and testing days happen.

BTW, I would say majority of the shots are made the right shoulder of the motorway, the rest are photos from the bridges, aerials and driving. Sure, the photographer takes risk, but I guess it is overall similar in outdoor photography.

It was built between 1973 and 1977 in connection with construction of dam Liptovská Mara, but I don't know why such parameters were used. E.g. construction of D2 started in 1972 and it is standard D 26.5.

BTW, the resting place in Dechtáre is definitelly worth of stopping to eat something here:

And then enjoy this view:

Those photos are from the official page of National Motorway Company, blame them.

R1 Kováčová - Banská Bystrica

This section of R1 was built in 1974 as 2x2 national road with grass median. It was supposed to be feeder of motorway D65. But, D65 was cancelled and this stretch became part of expressway R1. National Motorway company upgrades it to make it up to expressway standard. They added acceleration/deceleration lanes where missing and jersey barriers in the median.

Why unfortunately? When expressway R3 will be built traffic volume on this road will decrease a lot so 6 lanes won't be needed for quite some time. If there is some section of R1 which will have to be upgraded on 2x3, then it's Žiar nad Hronom - Zvolen (Šášovské Podhradie - Budča), because I have strong doubts tunnel under Kremnické vrchy mountains will be built anytime soon. But, upgrade of this section would be pretty expensive.

Space between lanes is just too wide, I think in 70ies there was some calculation for possible 3rd lane, whatever... Both cities, Zvolen and Banská Bystrica population should be increased maybe by 50 percent to make this more realistic. Upgrade on R1 is really far future, possibly for Zvolen-Šášovské podhradie and around Nitra. For R3 in the next years the bypasses are indeed sufficient, amount of traffic is and will be really not that high.

I heard some time ago that this wide median on R1 was build as a reserve for a fast-tram-track, connecting Zvolen and Bánská Bystrica, though I have nothing to prove it

Look from D1 on High Tatras - on the left side peak Kriváň (2494 m) - national mount of Slovakia.

I heard that too and IMO it's likely. Communists had great plans about huge Banská Bystrica - Zvolen metropolis.
